Show me your Subaru

Buddy of mine and I took his forester into more than a couple crummy areas elk hunting. I threaten to steal my wife’s on occasion but she doesn’t like the idea, hers has hauled out half an elk in the past though

Ran into my first irritation with my Subaru. Online research indicated you could swap the donut for a full-sized spare and would just lose some of the foam on the underside of the cargo area. Reality is a different story. 20230206_154825.jpg20230206_165240.jpg
 
Since Subaru was mentioned I'LL NOW MENTION I DRIVE A TRUCK LIKE AN AMERICAN NOT SOME VEGAN SOCIALIST. EVERYONE MUST KNOW I DRIVE A TRUCK.
I also drive a truck.
But my daily driver is a Subaru...one in Alaska with 200k miles and going strong and 1 in MT where we winter.
I like that it is super easy to change the oil and great gas mileage. Plus excellent traction on snow/ice with all wheel drive.
I've owned 6 Subarus, a F150 and a Chevy 1/2 ton pickup in the past 40 years.
Subarus are one of the most popular cars in interior Alaska.
 
I'd be interested in knowing which lift & rims you went with if you're willing to share that information.
Did you have to trim any plastic?
15in sparco terra wheels, anderson design lift, primitive racing skid plates everywere, 29in tires fit ,the 32in took a bunch of trimming so took them off,,,, its my buddies hunting rig,,,,
 
My turn to bump this thing. After 15 years of driving subies, I got a boat and had to move up to a 4runner about six years back. Daughter turned 16 this spring and my parents talked about trading in their 10 year old outback, so when they got a new car so did my daughter.

Three weeks later my daughter learned a valuable lesson about making left turns onto busy roads...don't! Other driver was cited as he was using the center turn lane as a passing lane, and luckily everybody was fine.

Insurance totalled it out, but second body shop assured me the damage was cosmetic and that I could do the work. A phone call to the junkyard was made, and a plan for parts was established. The garage was then turned into a body shop. I sure would've loved a lift, but no dice.

Doors went smooth, fender replacement wasn't too bad, bumper cover was replaced, and I thought I was good to go. Fired the car up only to realize I never clipped in the headlight wiring. Dammit!! Stripped it all back off, clipped it in, and reassembled it... again.

Drove it to work all last week and life is good. The junkyard doors have some scratches and dings, but they are perfect for high school parking lots now.

Biggest take away was the cheap plastic clips used for holding cars together can be managed with the right tools. A cheap kit off Amazon for pulling plastic trim was worth its weight in gold. I still broke a few, but had replacements that worked just fine. Also lots of pictures and lots of beer made it a tolerable project.
