Was thinking of stopping in South Dakota this fall, when I'm on route to Wyoming. Figured I could maybe have a break from the car/driving and do a little public land/access land hunt and see if I could kick up a few birds. I don't have a dog, nor have I ever been pheasant hunting. Just seemed like it could be a nice break given time isn't an issue and the licensing is relatively inexpensive. Is this a good idea? Haven't really looked into it at all yet as I'm still finalizing my mule deer/antelope hunt plans.
