This stupid caribou ruined a perfectly good sheep hunt. We were in a prime location, and had seen over 60 sheep from camp. We were planning our 'sheep' attack while heating up breakfast the first morning, and I caught movement on the hill side about 600 yards off. I quickly scrambled to the tent to grab my bino's, then scrambled to verified through the spotter... then made a quick 300 yard jog and one shot from the 280 and my sheep hunt was over. Maybe my moose hunt next month will yield me a sheep? I'd gladly end a moose hunt due to killing a sheep. :D

Packed out 3/4ths yesterday and the rest along with camp today... Not a bad trip, for an hour's worth of planning and google earth scouting. ;)

Good pics. Tell us the truth. The caribou just got in front of your bullet, when your fired and your sheep.
congrats on some more memories and some good table fare.

Please return to google earth and tag this last photo at the exact location of the kill.

Looks like you got AK. figured out . Good luck on your upcoming hunts.Do you ever work?

I dropped the fuzzy antlers off at the freeze dryer yesterday. Put the skull in the 'skull bucket' to cook up after the season is over. I think the euro/velvet will look pretty sweet.

That is a nice Bou

I am reading inbetween the lines there and seems you had to cut the antlers off the skull to get it freeze dried?

Yeah, they'll be dried and then have a preservative put on them to keep the bugs at bay. I'll glue the horns back on when I get them back.

That makes me cry a little on the inside.

My brother has had great luck with the Methanol soaking deal for velvet. But you still have to split the skull plate for that as well.
