Scope decision

Not sure if OP has bought a new scope or not, but right now Cameraland is selling the Steiner GS3 2-10x42 30mm w 4A reticle for $599. (Normally $800)

If you're seeing a significant difference between your Simmons and your wife's Leupold, it's clear you've got a taste of what better glass can offer. Now, you don't need to take out a second mortgage to get a quality scope. There are middle-ground options out there that provide good clarity, durability, and functionality.
Brands like Vortex, Nikon, and even some of the budget lines from Leupold offer a good balance. If you're hesitant on making the choice, you could always flip a coin—literally. It may sound like a game, but the immediate reaction you feel to the outcome might just tell you what you're really leaning toward.

Good choice on Leupod. Their warranty is second to none. Sent a a 30 year old scope back for repair and they sent me a brand new one…
About that Leupold warrantee. While living in Alaska I met a guy using a Leupold he got for free from Leupold. Claimed he found one in a river up there and fished it out, trash. But he sent it to Leupold and they sent him a brand new scope for it! He wasn't drinking at the time so could be true!
