I have an opportunity to get a good deal on a savage 110 hog hunter. my question is can I put a wood 110 stock on the gun? I would like the more classic look of iron sights and a wood stock. I'm sure there are some wood stocks around from people upgrading them. anything I should watch for? thanks in advance.

Theyve changed the bolt release and action screw spacing (on shorts)- so be careful buying a used one. The link above details the different variations.

As far as aftermarket boyds stocks have been ok - might want to pillar/glass bed it though.

Good advice for Boyd’s and Savage. I think Boyd’s will make a stock for the weird screw spacing too but might charge extra for it. Only used them on a Savage 110.

If you go with Boyd’s, be sure to pay them extra to install pillars. You’ll save a ton of time down the road.

If getting a Boyds, pay attention to the model action your ordering.
They will specify what screw spacing it is.
Order the right one, and your good to go without paying extra.
