Ryan Busse is a coward

No, you don't. It takes 2/3 in the house, 2/3 in the Senate and 3/4 of the state legislatures.

Yes, it is hard.

There are many facets to government that aren't specifically mentioned in the Constitution. They aren't implemented as a design to get around the Constitution. And if there is a dispute, the courts sort it out. The courts make their share of mistakes, and we either live with it, of try to rectify it.

There is no end in the arc of politics. The problems will never be solved to everyone's satisfaction.

So, we agree its meant to be hard? I forgot the state legislature part.

You are 100% correct. WE, via our legislators enact rules(laws). Those laws are subject to court review.

Our system is not set up for the end run of unelected three letter agencies to be used to bring restrictions that one side or tge other cannot get passed via legislation.

Be that the FBI, ATF, NIH, EPA, etc.

If there were votes for an "assault weapon" ban, it would already be in place. What is happening now is a lot of fundraising and paychecks.

That doesn't even take into account the Clinton ban didn't achieve its desired results.

Handguns account for most gun related deaths, and a huge swath of those deaths are suicide, not violence.

I'm sure it's not W$$$$RTH it.

When you consider how much any of us has moved the needle, it absolutely isn't worth it or w$$$$rth his time.

It is not us as gun owners that will largely decide the firearm policy into the future. It will be more shaped by non gun owners, who either accept the policy or decide that a different one would be better.

Interesting take. I might question who is selling what off the backs of those dead children. Is the NRA selling memberships on those same backs? Maybe the answer is more than one person is monetizing a tragedy.

I know what you're saying, but if you looked at it from a different prospective, say, of all the mass shootings how many involved an AR style platform.

I agree with you. The NRA uses the same type of fear and hysteria to try to drive membership.

I don’t own one but they’re the most popular firearm platform there is. The percentage used in mass shootings is statistically insignificant. To think that a company would stop selling their best selling product (while their competitors don’t stop) because an extremely minute amount of their product is used incorrectly, doesn’t make much sense.

So, how many school shooting deaths would it take to give them pause?

"Coward" is an interesting word choice in the title of this thread. It takes some serious bravery to walk away from being a nominee for Shooting Industry Person of the Year and an executive in a successful gun company, and have to face angry gun people, many of them probably once-good friends, (most of whom refuse to read the book, but boy do they have opinions about it!) for the rest of your life.

By all means, call him whatever names you want, don't read the book, repeat the same tired arguments, attack any gun owner who thinks slightly differently than you, and carry on.

But a coward? I don't think so.

Most brave people have principles that guide their life.

Finding new principles because the wife said so, not real brave.

And yeah, my library had his book. Yeah it's a read about an egotistical narcissist, no there's very little reflection on his own guilt for the narrative and a ton of casting blame.

None of which is much different than his Twitter or web page, nor his multitude of leftist media appearances.

He's very liberal. Not just democratic. Hiding that for decades because the money was good, isn't bravery. Hard to sell a pallet of 1911 while telling the buyer how toxic they are.

Bravery would be not switching careers and taking very polar stances based on what pays most.

Those friends he faces, probably didn't like being called gun nuts, or toxic, because they like to shoot .223. Throwing your friends under the bus ain't real brave either. It's funny how many of tge guys that are NRA members, toxic members of gun culture, etc are here defending a guy, who showed them no such grace.

The same guy who flies all over the country slinging books, speaking, etc, has kids suing Montana over the very fuel used to support them.

No such bravery there either I guess. Or, bikes take too long?

$19.99 a book. The believers buy it. The non believers buy it to refute it. Either way, $19.99.

"Akways be closing"

I was around him and dealt with him when he was with Kimber and BHA.

There is nothing that guy liked more than sniffing his own farts and getting in front of a microphone.

I know nothing about the topic at hand, but I know if Busse told me the ocean was wet I'd want a second opinion.

What's wrong with liking sniffing your own farts? Asking for a friend.

BTW. I own a AR, 100% because of who tells me I shouldn't.

I have funner and more accurate .223.

But do you have a 30 round magazine that has a photo of DONALD J TRUMP's Face on it, with MAGAzine printed under it?

My AR is a tack-driving machine.

No. Mines beige, matches the other plastic. Because of that, I'm exempt, only black guns are scary😉

I’ve heard this argument that handguns are the real killer and AR platforms are only a tiny smidgin of actual dead people here. To follow on that asinine line of thinking, let’s consider deaths drunk driving compared to all driving. You’ll read here that in 2021, only 13,384 died from drunk driving incidents. While in the same period, there were a staggering 42,915 total deaths from all driving!

So just what business does the government or MADD have stepping in and legislating, regulating, bad media press about drunk driving? Where do they get off telling people how much they can drink before driving anyway? It’s driving that is the real killer and it’s our right as Americans to freely travel. They can take my car from my cold dead hands.

You see? Saying “yeah, but look over here at handguns” is a horseshit counterpoint.

Not sure it is an issue of technicality, just an ever changing argument.

How? Suicides have always been the majority of death via gun use. Creating bumper sticker phrases only changes tge wording, not tge fact

You are implying that a firearm death one way rather than another is less tragic and an acceptable price of your "freedom". It's not a good look. You are arguing for a result - keeping your specific type of gun - rather than arguing toward a potential solution to a problem. I'm not big on banning types of guns because that isn't effective when there are 400m of them out there, but saying only X% died with this gun might not sit well with the majority of the public.
