RIP Marvelous Marvin Hagler

Those were the days I loved to watch the middleweights. Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, Iran Barkley. Some great fights, and the rematches.

I just saw that his family said he had a bad reaction to the vaccine.
Reports about him being in ICU after getting the vaccine are untrue.

His wife, Kay, announced his death on the Facebook page for Hagler’s fans.

“I am sorry to make a very sad announcement,” she wrote. “Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire.”

Marvin Hagler showed up to fight ready and in shape , he was the ultimate champion . We will not see the likes of him again ! Rest In Peace Marvelous.

Marvin Hagler was one of my all time favorites fighters. He was incredible and the discipline that he had was amazing. I never ever saw him come into a fight out of shape or overweight, which seems to not be the case in some of todays fighters. Not all fighter today, certainly but Marvin was always prepared for his fights, always! There was no quite in him either. Marvin was extremely talented and gifted but he remained true to the person that he was. He was humble and gracious.

One day I found out that Marvin Hagler had been in town with his wife and stayed at a KOA campground very near to where I lived. Marvin was still fighting at the time and I can't recall the exact year. I would have loved to say hello and meet him. I never fought professionally, but I did fight as an amateur for 12 years, and I was also training and fighting at the time. I would have loved it if I could have talked him into going out with me to where we trained and get the chance to spar with him for a few rounds. Just to share the same ring with Marvin Hagler would have been an amazing experience.

RIP Marvin Hagler

RIP Marvin Hagler

I'm not much for adornment on stars. But I would like to have bumped in to Marvin somewhere so I could look him in the eye and tell him the belt was stolen and he will ALWAYS be the champ.
It is super nice to hear other guys express an appreciation for Hagler and that period of boxing. It was a thing to have social gatherings to watch a fight back then, ...fights for free on TV. I was a big fan of the middle weights like so many others here. Watched all the fights....all the notable boxers. Hagler fought with a brutal fierceness but also precision. Hagler/Hearns was an amazing fight.

Sugar Ray didn't beat you Champ!!

My fav. boxer of all time. My dada was a big boxing fan and grew up watching him. He was Duran fan, me, Marvelous.

RIP. He was great to watch. I remember him fighting Hearns (I believe the second time), four rounds of non-stop action until Hagler finished off. Fun fight to watch.
