Rifle question

Thanks guys. Going to bring it in to my local gun shop and have them give it the once over.

Glad it didn't hurt you. Hope everything is fine as it seems to be shooting well now.

On my Moose, I used 175gr Gamekings out of my 7 Mag, and the bull never took a 2nd step. I think any quality bullet from a reputable manufacturer out of your 338 will be more than enough to take a moose. I normally shoot 168gr Berger's, and they have dropped everything I've ever taken like lightning strikes, but for the moose I wanted better weight retention and penetration.

As for the mishap at the range, at least it was a lower pressure round out of a gun built to handle the larger of the two! We order our range ammo in bulk for work (Law enforcement) and during a drill where someone else loads up your mags, mixing in dummy rounds to practice malfunctions, I had a 9mm loaded into my .40 S&W. The only reason I noticed was the very light recoil and oddly muffled shot. No damage to the barrel or the gun however.

Thanks all for the suggestions and stories. I have been shooting for 30 years and also was in the marines... so I felt like an idiot that I let that happen. But hearing these stories reminds me sh&# happens!
I'm sticking with the federal trophy bonded 200 grains. Less than 7 weeks away... but whose counting
