I know, I know, I know, another elk rifle piece. I wanted to log the first choice(and only choice) of the rifle caliber and bullet choice you plan to use on this year's rifle elk hunt. A limit of 400 yards is set. And what state will you be hunting in? So here I go:

35 Whelen using a hand loaded 225 gr Nosler AB, Hunting Colorado's 1st Rifle Season

Interesting. This is what I have so far:

Volume, Caliber, Bullet State

1 => 35 Whelen w/ 225 gr Nosler AB - handload CO 1st
1 => 375 H& H w/ 250 gr TTSX WY
1 => 300 RUM NA NA
1 => 7mm w/ 160 gr Nosler AB NA
1 => 300 WinMag w/ 166 gr Hammer Hunters NA
1 => 6.5 PRC w/ 156 gr Bergers CO 1st
1 => 30-06 w/ 200 gr Partitions NA

In all honesty I have four rifles set up. .243 and 80 grain Hammer Hunters. .270 and 140 Accubonds. So far for that rifle. .30-06 and 166 Hammer Hunter subject to change to HHT's. .300 RUM is being rebarreled. Stay tuned. mtmuley

Thought you are just going to use the .300 all year…😂

In order of what I’ll likely shoot. Bullet selection pending. Need to sight in all four.
