Anyone been reading any good books lately? Currently in the middle of Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. Very, Very good book. I love pretty much all of Stephen Hunter's books as well.

Would love to hear some treasures you guys have found.

Im in the middle of Kenny Salweys Tales of the last river rat. Its a book of short stories about living in the upper Mississippi river valley. So far its a very good read.

CJ Box has become a favorite author of mine.

Paul Doiron is pretty good as well and both write about game wardens, but in very different parts of the country. Both a good reads.

Just finished"The Son" by Philipp Meyer...and James Lee Burks "Wayfaring Stranger" ....

Just finished longbow country by Don Thomas, it was an excellent read. I have now started on They Were Ready, story of the 164th Infantry Regiment ND National Guard in the pacific war 42 to 45, can't put the book down.

C.J. Box is awesome. Not a big reader, but when my wife kept asking me questions regarding different types of calibers and firearms I knew I needed find out what this author she was reading was all about. Read the first of the Picket series during Thanksgiving week and just started the second in the series,"Savage Run", last night.

Finished up "The Ghost Mountain Boys" by James Campbell about the fight for New Guinea in WW2. I also just finished "American Sniper" Both are good reads if military history suites you.

I recently finished Endurance by Alfred Lansing. Great read about Ernest Shackelton's failed Antarctica crossing expedition. For those that haven't read it, it was written in the 50's and based on diaries and interviews of the crew involved. Fantastic non-fiction.

For those who have or have not seen the movie, I highly recommend "Unbroken" by Lauren Hillenbrand.

Alaska's wolf man. A biographical novel of the Alaska portion of Frank Glaser's life as written by Jim Reardon. If you are in to that sort of stuff.

Almost done with Steven Rinella's American Buffalo, very worthy of a read if you get the chance.

Listened to John Grisham's "Sycamore Row" recently...excellent character development....a legal yarn with lawyer Jake Brigance (A Time To Kill) as protagonist.

Try "The Tiger" by John Vaillant. True story of backwoods wardens interior Russia (Amur River Valley) tracking down a man-eating Siberian tiger. A fun ride and makes me want to hunt elk in that country. The author gets a little anthropomorphic, IMO, but it works.

Blood & Thunder by Hampton Sides,Biography of Kit Carson. Excellent!

American Sniper. Very Good read but kinda scattered as you would expect from a non writer.
I got the full movie dvd too and the bio part is an excellent story in itself.
Wish folks had talked more about Vet's and what we go thru before, during and after. I just got spit on. Still do by the gubberment.I feel real sorry for the new generations of walking wounded.

Always trying to get thru Great River by Paul Horgan. Took a year the 1st time. Pulitzer winner and story of the history of the SW.Mainly Rio Grande & New Mexico......which was NM,AZ,UT,NV,CO,TX for couple hundred years... and didn't get made a state til 1914,after the others, retrobution I guess.
Has more accurate history than I ever learned anywhere.

1491, trying to find my copy to read again and authors name. Charles Mann I think. Changes your outlook of history for sure.
