Yea...if it ever happens it will be. The deer is really a part of my life. I may have spent more time with him last year than I did my wife. And by time I mean me sitting in the woods and him avoiding me.That is a fantastic buck. Good luck. It is extremely exciting if you get to put a tag on a buck you have a history with like this buck, but also bittersweet.
Two notable bucks I passed on holding out for Chief. The smaller 10 offered me shots morning noon and afternoon one day chasing doe.

Slow it was in the 90s all week only saw a couple small bucks and a few doe. Didnt hit it real hard. Being so hot the bugs were out of control still. How did your efforts go to hunt Chief the first week of archery season?

Killing myself...lol want to see better pics of him. I been to busy in the elk woods tho. But that season is over tomorrow so I'll shift to whitetail mode. The bucks should be moving back into the area about now from wherever they go to in the summer so I should have good pics.Killin me Smalls...
Went back to hunting for the buck today now that elk is over and my extra doe tag is filled. Totally spaced that today was opening day for waterfowl so it was not a fruitful sit. Heard I would guess 300 shots. Deer are used to it but I bet it still messes with them opening day. Cameras were all still a bunch of doe pics. But we had 3 good frosts and the habitat is changing finally and the bucks should start moving back in. Hopefully will have a non velvet pic to share soon. Better yet hopefully a shot of him harvested. Not holding my breath tho. He is ghostly.
I think ur right. The range map says they live in the area I was in.Adult Northern saw- whet?
