Propane or Wood?

Last weekend we broke out the new tent for a dry run before this fall. We camped on the Elk River, fished and kayaked. We caught some smallmouth bass, spotted bass, and brook trout. The camping outfit seemed to work out pretty well. I do have a question for you guys though. Should I go with my wood stove or propane with a catalytic converter for heat? I have a small cast iron wood stove that is about 21" long, but I am worried about getting wood. Propane would be much easier, but I have read of warnings not to use it in tents over 6000' feet. The tent is 11'x11', but I have a liner for it, so it should be pretty easy to heat. I know one camp will be North of Cheyenne, but we are also looking at picking up some leftover pronghorn permits, so we may have to move. Depending on our success, we are planning on hunting 10 days around the first week of Oct. What do you guys think?

Propane or wood? I am a wood fan ALL THE WAY!
Takes more time... though around camp it is a nice diversion while waiting for the evening hunt or lolly gagging around camp. Besides, nothing like the sound of a chain saw, watching the tree drop where it was not intended to drop, getting hung up in another tree... Wait, I am in support of wood - Damn it - Piece of cake - those wood burning stoves win hands down! I used propane once and it just gives me the eebee jeebee's of some 35-40 foot bus rv generator in my crosshair's running monstrosity of an evil camp device!

Burning propane produces carbon dioxide and water. Water equals condensation on the inside of your tent. Wood is a better alternative for heating tents.

In most National Forest it's ok to cut dead trees in areas away from riparian areas,creeks. Just check regs for the forest. If I had to use propane I would just stay home and watch "days of our lives".

I`ll relate a story to you from last fall,,in our camp we use wood stoves,,one in each tent,,we recieved snow the evening before the opener,,8 to 10 inches,,we did fine,,another camp not far from us used propane heat,,they all froze,,they came up to our camp and were amazed at how comfortable the heat was,,I`ll stick with wood
