Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Ron, thanks for posting.

Great photos showing the natural scenery of the Pictured Rocks area. Public land and water! One photo that could be added that none of us ever take is one pointing out towards the middle of Lake Superior. We certainly take for granted the continuous 120 plus miles of clear fresh water before reaching the North shore. I can't count the hours I have spent fishing in this area. All the way from right next to the cliffs on the shoreline all the way to being so far out that land is not even visible. The vastness and open area of the lake will make you feel very small, kind of like the mountains do, just flat unless you want to risk your life in the big waves.

Not the best, but here are a few towards open water. One towards Grand Island

I see you slipped some pics of Sleeping Bear Dunes in the northwest lower peninsula in there. Very nice. I grew up in Traverse City, and although I live in and prefer Montana overall, I do miss the northern Michigan summers.

My favorite way to see the Rocks is by sea yak. So many caves you can poke in and explore. Catch it after a rain and there are a handful of waterfalls as well. An amazing place. Have had bears in camp a handful of times on the Lakeshore Trail as well.11728818_10100633030039918_1646294986963329961_o.jpg

Nope! 😀 They are all Pictured Rocks. The sand dunes are at the old log slide into Lake Superior. Grand Sable banks and dunes near Grand Marais

Wow, those are beautiful. I never traveled much in the UP and had no idea there were such beautiful dunes up there too. Might have to check that out next time I visit relatives in Michigan.
