Photo Regrets

One more.........

A buddy and I were up Squaw Creek south of Boseman and managed to call in a really good bull to about 20 yards. Unfortuantely Zach got binned down in the open and couldn't get a shot off wile lying on his belly. After the bull lost interest and wondered down the ridge, I made a move and hauled but to get arround in front of him. I hit the cow call and he responded immediately and headed my way. As the bull reached the 100 yard mark, I readied for a shot and hit the cow call again. About that time a bear stood up directly between me and the elk. Well the bull saw enough and headed for safer pastures. I tried futilly to call him back... no luck. I did however manage to get the bear's attention and she came down the hill at me with all she had. I decided at 10 yards she was close enough and put an arrow right between her ears. It just glanced off but stopped her in her tracks. As she turned to run away, I put another one through her longs and as she ran up the hill, one more "texas heart shot". Three arrows in unter 20 seconds. When I checked her at MFWP they aged her at 23 years onle.... which is older than I was at the time.

The pic sucks... but was good enough to make the paper back home. One of my best war stories... just wish I had a better photo to go with it.

Ha ha ha ha!

Apparently I might have had one too many adult beverages before posting the two pics earlier in this thread...... My six year old can spell better. "Boseman"..... classic.

Greenhorn, here is two more shots of that bull from the north side of Ft. Peck (more photo regrets). He is pretty unique. The passenger side antler comes right out of the middle of his head and is as massive as any antler I have put my hands on. The driver's side has everything, long tines, lots of mass and very normal looking. This bull didn't score well because of the big difference in antlers and the fact that his inside spread is only 33 3/8".

Here are some stats-

Right Antler-

Mass = 31"
Main Beam= 55 2/8"
Total score= 153 6/8"

Left Antler-
Mass= 27"
Main Beam= 56 6/8":
Total score= 164 5/8

Total P&Y Net score came out at only 323 1/8" (351 6/8" gross)

This bull is way bigger than the score indicates...... One of my favorite trophies.

My biggest regret was on my once in a lifetime tule elk hunt. I let my buddy take the field photos and did not check them. I attached the photos below, as you can see there is not pics. I guess I should have check them before we cut him up and pack it out.

Ouch. Do you mean a buddy, or a "Former Buddy?" ;)

elkwhisper, that's a cool bull. Friend of mine shot it's twin in 2008. Same freaky side with the unicorn, massive base on the right side. It was also a 6X7, but the extra point was down low as a 3rd browtine out of the heavy bottom part. The overall size and shape are real similar to that one of yours.

The only pic I have of this buck.....

Pretty much any hunting photo of me prior to 2000 would be eligible to be posted in this thread. Here are some of the better ones.

First deer:

First pronghorn (yes, my shirt says Shit Happens and my brother's says Sheep's gonna hit the fan. Please don't judge my parents. ;)):

Classy...

A red-letter day. Killed within 2 minutes of each other on the same hillside. This is the best I could do:

Wolfman (really, Terry?):

Wolfman strikes again:

Perhaps the bigger regret is that haircut:

Ok, I wasn't going to post these classics due to all the extra chins, but what's a few chins among friends? I use these as motivation these days.

Can't believe I let myself be photographed. A tick reference comes to mind:

The only pic of my best black bear...pretty sad. This bear went 19 14/16". Back then we didnt have to take the meat. I was in about six miles and it was right at dark when I killed him so I skinned him and out I went with hide and skull. Should have gutted him and went back the next day....1986.

what a class shot here. gotta like the tongue hanging out, the quazi hut(culvert)in the background, and the trailer the deer is on.
