We are headed to Miami 4/11-14 to try to catch some peacock bass. At first we were going to do a half day charter but one of my buddies is wanting to just bring his boat so we can fish 2 whole days. He’s investigated it quite a bit and thinks we should be able to do good on our own. Looking at fishing the Miami airport lakes. If anyone has done this before and has any tips they would share we would really appreciate it! Thanks a bunch.

I have wanted to do the same.
I think there are canals you can access that have bass. Can't offer any specifics but it sounds doable.

Yes you can bring your boat and have a riot . But I suggest you call JP McKay , 954 325 0753 . Do a one day with him , he will show you how to catch em , Tell him Bob Shaw sent ya ...

Peacock bass were always high on my bucket list, so flew in a day early when I had some company meetings in Miami a couple years ago. One of the most fun trips I've ever done. Between three of us, we probably put 50 into the boat in the canals not too far from the airport. We fished with Capt. Mike from Urban Legends and I'd very strongly recommend him: https://www.urbanlegendsfishing.com/ I'd definitely go back with him but want to try my hand at throwing flies at them. Be prepared to see some Booner wild iguanas, too.

Just a word of warning-- a couple of college friends took their own bass boat for a peacock trip several years ago. Woke up the next morning at the hotel and the truck, boat and trailer were gone.

Send me a PM. I’ve done it a bunch diy

We've gotten into some accidentally. Lots of areas in the canals around Miami have em. Take the boat and do an Airbnb. Lots of em have security fence to protect your stuff. We were in key largo last summer and had the same concerns. Heck, you may find a house with canal access.
