About the same IIRC, the last we had a surplus in the federal budget was in '01 when he left office..
It was a different time, Ds were also against gay marriage and for border security/deportation, sounds like some sort of twilight zone compared today.

BJs, budget surplus, AR ban, and NAFTA.

We will see. Clinton’s Vera got a hell of lot more takers than this one. So far effectiveness seems to be off to a rough start. If your objective is chaos and lawsuits than I bet your right.

Gotta love our tax dollars paying a cadre of lawyers to defend blatantly unconstitutional actions all the way up to SCOTUS for the next 4 years.

Not to mention spending cuts make a lot more sense to me if they are used to pay down the deficits not give more tax breaks which keep us in the same fiscally precarious position

edit to add: since all Federal employees are a waste of oxygen, do we feel the same way about the US gov lawyers defending these cases? Maybe that's why they're destined to lose.

If its so blatantly unconstitutional that even some random person that goes by Gulf of America on a hunting website can sniff out its legality, then it shouldn't take 4 years to litigate. I mean you have it sorted out already. Any hack JD should have this one wrapped up by the end of the day.

It was sarcasm; I have great respect for the men and women who work hard and make sacrifices to ensure that our government accomplishes the incredibly complex and varied services it is tasked with. More than the interruption in services and the impacts directly, I am concerned that the loss of institutional knowledge by people being forced out of service will hamper our government and make it even less efficient for years.

But it was a bad faith joke and I deleted it.

Valid concern. One I share but most likely to a lesser degree. RIF's are tough no matter how they are accomplished. I have unfortunately been involved in a few over my career. Picking who stays and who goes in never easy and never done 100% correct. Loss of institutional knowledge is damn near inevitable, degree to which is what you have some control in. Chesterton's Fence is very real. Negative outcomes are guaranteed. Positives are also guaranteed. I feel comfortable the positives will outweigh the negative. Others do not, perhaps yourself included. Its a fair point.

Dems overplayed their hand per usual with all the judge shopping injunctions. I bet this is all cleared out in one swoop by the SC within a couple months.

I just tried reading Nothing Like It in the World by Stephen Ambrose, about the building of the transcontinental railroad. I returned it to the library when the abdication of Lincoln's federal government to private financiers (including the largest giveaway of federal land to corporations in our history, which is what funded the construction and made trust multimillionaires that dominated our economy until TR busted their trusts) kept getting replayed in the daily Trump trumpet.
