Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

Pause on Federal Grants - MD25-13

$50 mil?

That would be a nice little start towards a down payment to pay back all of the Federal wildlife grant money Wyoming has received🙂
I'm sorry Wyoming has you so butthurt. Maybe WI can also return their PR/DJ federal grant money too. You know, the money derived from self imposed tax on hunting and fishing equipment.

Wondered what happened to my post about NRCS project funding ?
It looked like it was heading off the rails.

Fools.
The budget can be balanced with simple math and a path this country WAS ON.
But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,we have to play games.
The wealthy pay in, the corps pay in. AGAIN.
No SS cap.

Give the middle class a 15% tax rate.

When I was young we paid off the debt from the '29 crash, WWII and the Marshall Plan.
The damn country was booming.
Most everyone was making a good living. Had a job, home, car.
Companies paid a sum and grew. They paid their employees. They invested in the company.

Go ahead get rid of laws and regulations.
The condoms................oh the condoms.
Pay no taxes if you are born in a trust.
Welfare moms...the scourge.
Tax write off companies and farms.

The SS check I get, I paid for.

There is a shitload of folks on the tit. That have never served their country nor worked a real job in their life.

Fools.
Glad I grew up in a great country.
This new pc version is crap. Crapto?

Remember that time you claimed Wyoming was 100% responsible for funding its own wildlife?

That was funny🙂

Do you think wanting to do away with the debt ceiling is a good sign or a bad sign for getting spending under control?

I personally don't think that's a good sign for those beating the drum to control spending. That's almost like tossing in the towel, IMO.
I would say its not a great sign but I am also just savvy enough to see why we wants it to go away. Removing that bargaining chip makes enacting his policies a bit easier. I think his admin is smart enough to see that. I also think he is fine if it stays. I don't think he would miss much sleep if a Gov shutdown happened. Might just be what he wants in the end. And he gets to blame the Dems for it. I think a majority of Americans will agree with him.

Stop spending money we don't have on projects we don't support, then we can talk about increasing our taxes. Seems intuitively simple to me.
It is sad that the average American thinks their job stops at the ballot box. But sure, I hope you think you are done. The rest of us can call.

It's ironic that you posted using a computer that uses a semiconductor that was developed using taxpayer dollars and made the posting on the internet, which was also developed using taxpayer dollars. I won't even get into drug research, biotech, etc. I'm 1000% sure no one person should be responsible for determining which projects are worthy and which are not because there is no way to tell which ones are duds and which ones will be the future drivers of civilization. I heard he wants to start a Sovereign Wealth Fund, which is kind of cute, but the history of many of these grants show they are already acting as a quasi-venture capital fund.

In regards to taxes, Social Security is a self funding program and they won't even raise the maximum income taxed for that program. They would rather see it bleed to death.

You are an interesting one. Not sure how or if I should even try to reply to this since I don't understand how you got from A to B. But I will give it a try. Maybe I should simplify for you.

Taxes are good. Spending is good. Not all spending is good. Spending priorities should be voted on. They were. Calling your elected officials to voice concerns is good. Voting is better.

Agreed. But isn't this entire forum based on submitting opinions? Yours included. Probably not prudent to base national decisions on what WyoCoalMiner or StraightArrow have to say on a hunting forum.
So true. But I'm reluctant to post an opinion regarding something so complex and something at a level way out of my wheelhouse. I try to limit opinion to those issues I really know something about. (ie; PLT, AP, CE's in Perpetuity, Montana Streambed and Land Preservation Act, and few more, but very limited)

"... but why can’t we sacrifice by paying more taxes too?"
There is nothing stopping you from paying more taxes than you are required to under current tax law. Neither is there anything stopping you from donating $'s to any particular initiative(s) you feel you want to support.

Thats a shame, from what I have read you seem to be level-headed, intelligent, honest. Dont think I am outside my wheelhouse pontificating about how I would like my tax dollars used and collected. Don't think anyone else should hold back their thoughts either. Also, I dont think getting a budget in order is all that complex a problem. It's very difficult and painful but little more than addition and subtraction.

That is where we disagree. This isn't a small business or household budget. The complexities at a national federal level are exponentially more difficult, painful, and politically charged than simple mathematics.
