Saw this story this morning...looks like the guy does everything right and still takes a round in the leg.

(Warning there is a little blood in the vid.)

Part I don't fully get--the trigger on a Glock has a pretty heavy pull, does it not? Seems like it would be difficult to accidentally put enough pressure on it to discharge.

Crazy stuff and unfortunate for everyone involved.

How does that even happen?? She shot him while removing his weapon from his holster??

Dude just hit the lottery, will literally be a multi-millionaire after the lawsuit unfolds.

Dang, that is bad. I mean accidents happen, but that was as controlled a situation as you can get. Super simple and there is no excuse for that from the officer. None.

Maybe, could've been an aftermarket trigger too, just because someone is a LEO doesn't mean they have good gun handling skills or awareness, he'll get a nice check i bet.

I was at the Fort Carson-controlled range one day that has a LEO-only firing line on the very end, maybe 75 yards away, facing the same direction as everybody else, we were out swapping targets on a cold range and one of those guys started sending flyers right over our heads above the berm. Everybody beat feet back to our line real fast, and the range officer (a retired gunny) ran down and absolutely lit into those cops.

+1 on this. My brother-in-law is a police officer and has trouble qualifying with his weapon every year. A lot of the guys are total gun guys and very skilled but there are plenty who don't really know how to handle a weapon. Its one of their tools that they honestly dont use often.(hopefully).

That poor guy was doing everything he could to cooperate & it'll take ex officer Cardwell a long time to get over the incident. Bad deal all he way around. Not the ideal defensive philosophy but I don't keep my vehicle firearm chambered nor carry it...
