The Glock, however, isn’t the first time someone was shot due to handling, holstering or unholstering a loaded Glock and it won’t be the last…

Operator error. The same could happen with any other striker fired pistol without a manual safety like a Springfield XD, Smith M&P, H&K VP9, Sig P320, etc.

I carry a Glock of some type pretty much every single day, unless I feel like packing a revolver in the mountains. I’m not scared of them.

I’ve dealt with hundreds to probably thousands of Glocks, and have never seen an issue with them that could/would not occur with any other brand of pistol, given the safety violations involved

Good news… DEI hiring is over as of 1/20/25.

I can’t speak to Florida, but I see plenty of folks who should not be cops. It’s what happens when you have to scoop too deep out of the hiring pool. It has nothing to do with DEI. Its lack of good applicants.

100% agree its operator error. But.... "Glock leg syndrome" is the only term I've ever heard used when describing a ND involving holstering/unholstering a handgun regardless of firearm brand. You'll never hear anyone say
"1911 leg syndrome" because it's more fun to make fun of Glocks.... like Subaru, Savages, and 6.5 Creedmoor.

First I'm seeing this story. No I do not know this officer. The brief look at the video present in this thread shows two fingers inside the trigger guard. To state the obvious, that's a mistake that had to contribute to the outcome.

My personal opinion this officer is reflective of the outlier within all agencies across the country as a whole. The "Bad apple" analogy so to speak. Again though I don't know this officer or her level of experience so my opinion can be nothing more than what it is typically compared to that everybody has one of.

This does harken back to the officer a few years ago who thought she pulled her taser and instead pulled her firearm and shot someone trying to flee.

There too the incident where an officer went to their apartment at the end of their shift and walked into the wrong apartment and shot/killed the resident in his own apartment.

None of these examples reflect an excuse for what happened. You work with firearms daily, you're expected to be safe in what you do with the public, it's on you as an officer to get it right.

Let me end this by saying I do not know the whole story of this incident and have not watched more than 15 seconds of the linked video. More information coming out can change the perception of this incident. On its face in my opinion she messed up and has to suffer the consequences of her actions.

I was in the business. DEI mentality caused many folks to be hired in LE that never should have been allowed into a training academy.

I’m not speaking to your experiences at all. If that’s what you saw, that’s what you saw. I can say from what I’ve seen, it’s definitely a lack of good applicants.

Ruger LCP leg certainly won’t work with the amount of travel the trigger has and pull weight
