Caribou Gear Tarp

New USFWS Director

A friend used to (don’t know if he still does) run a trail crew in the Bob. He told me they went out one day to open up a trail they hadn’t been able to get to in a couple of years. Spent two days cutting out a 15ish mile section. A thunderstorm/microburst cam through and they spent two days cutting their way back out.

The misdirected anger and vengeance is amazing.

@Hunting Wife was right. We don’t deserve what we are blessed with.
Well they picked their occupations...I have to do my job so they should be expected to do theirs.

You’re completely missing the point.

They are doing their job. With very limited resources, a short work season, and unrealistic expectations by the public.

This was 15 miles of hundreds in their Ranger District, and that is just clearing the trails. It doesn’t get to building new boardwalks, putting in water bars, bridge maintenance, etc.

I’m not sure but I know a lot of people in the community volunteered their time. Donations and volunteer hours.

Report back here in 5 years and tell us how many drains have been cleaned, how many miles of brush have been cleared, how many feet of out sloped tread has been fixed.

It’s all to easy to be in involved in the shiny new construction and ribbon cutting but ever increasingly difficult to find volunteers or fund maintenance.

I can see the soft pink hands wringing and sitting on their asses, confused. They have never used a real tool.
I'd like to video lota lota bullchit working a crosscut in the Frank for a half a day.

That would be entertaining.
Shouldn't talk about a man when you don't know him. You don't know what I do for a living. I've cut many a trail out using a crosscut saw. I've never met you in my life and never threw any personal insults out. Must work for the Forest Service?

I'm not missing anything. If they (the forest service) would have kept up on maintenance of the forest we wouldn't be in this predicament.

Well good. With all that practice you should get back at it instead of whining.

It’s easy to throw slights when you start the chit talking. Many people disclose their jobs on here.

What is yours? What’s your crosscut experience?

Not chit talking, genuinely asking.

I worked for the FS for several years maintaining trails (or attempting to). I now work in Law Enforcement for a different agency.
