My wife shoots bonded bullets in a ,260 Rem. She kills antelope, deer and elk with it. Less recoil, flatter shooting.

That could be a good deal, depending on the make/model of the stock and model of the scope.

I've taken Elk with both 7-08 and .308. Either will work well. I'm a .30-cal junkie, so for me .308 gets the nod. If it was my choice... I'd find a rifle I liked then decide between the 7-08 and the .308.

Bought my son a 7mm08. To be honest, I love shooting the thing. As noharley states - the .243 is equally pleasant to shoot, so check that out too. So many choices - you load your own, find the best deal I say! Good luck finding a great new weapon sir.

That's true, but does one really need something a 7mm can't handle? Bullets from 120 to 175 grains. Odds are he's going to pick something from 140-160 for deer/elk anyway.

Just sayin' from a guy that owns two .308's but doesn't own a 7mm-08...
