Just bought a 1988 Weatherby Mark V, from cabela's and I thought it was a .300 Weatherby Magnum and not a .300 Win Mag. I am pretty sure it is a .300 Weatherby Magnum, but not 100% sure. Please tell me what caliber it is. Thank you!

Dang this is a stupid way to write the caliber...

I have several Weatherbys and they either say:

Use only
.300 Win.Mag.

or

Use only
.300 Wby Mag.
(Weatherby Mag.)

I'm pretty sure its a .300 Wby Mag, but like @JLS said, drop a .300 Wby Mag and see if it chambers. If it doesn't it's a .300 Win Mag.

Seem's to me the Mark V never came in anything but Weatherby cartridges!
That is 300 is a bee! They come in several popular cartridges and have for some time, most poduction was wby cartridges but common cartridges help sell guns. I have owned 375 h&h, several 30-06s and 300 win's all in Mark V's plus a bunch in Wby cartridges.

Thank you guys for your help! It is a left handed model that was made in 1988 and it looks like from reading my blue book of gun values, that Weatherby only made the Mark V Deluxe Left Hand in .270 Wby Mag and .300 Wby. Mag thru 1997. Thank you guys again!

Weatherby brought out their 300 WM 19 years before Winchester. Maybe it's an older gun? :)

If the 300 Weatherby fits, then you'll know. I'd call Weatherby and give them the serial number.

I am 95% sure that it is a .300 Weatherby Magnum, but I will call Weatherby on Monday and do just that. I gave them the serial number to date it for me, I should have asked the caliber then too. Thanks for the info!!
