I noticed Nebraska has 2 different nr deer tags. One says statewide and other just deer tag.If I get extremely lucky on my hunt in Colorado and wrap it up quick,I'd be able to make Nebraska opening day.I'm guessing the statewide is if you want to hunt the western side for Mule deer but not sure.Price difference is double so wondering about the difference in tags.I doubt I'd get to hunt it this year but there's a chance and I always wanted to hunt deer there. Can someone clear up the difference for me,thanks

The region ones are preferable in most ways if you know where you are hunting and the region isn't sold out. All it does is limit the number of hunters in a unit by taking a fairly cheap NR tag at the regional level and doubling to one of the most expensive ones out there as means of limiting within reason. The full state tag is also good for more than just the week of firearm season and have more fewer antlerless restrictions most default of the units that its good in.

Mind translating that?

Are the Mule deer units sold out.I was looking at the southwest and west central units

There are actually a few tags for NR:

There is a NR resident statewide whitetail that lets you hunt anywhere during any season OTC- $537

There is a 9 day firearm restricted statewide buck tag that is good for a whitetail anywhere or a mule deer buck outside the mule deer conservation zone. OTC- $537

There are the regional 9 day firearm that has varying regulations by area on whitetail buck, mule deer or doe harvest. There are a limited number of these for each region- $216

$216 is a pretty inexpensive NR deer tag, $537 is one of the highest cost NR deer tags.

It entirely comes down to find an area you want to hunt, see if tags are available for the region price. If they aren't you have to decide if a deer is worth elk tag money. Public land is fairly limited, pressure is high but also unevenly distributed.

I speak/read Spanish. It is still a muddled mess.

Just to clarify, this is the answer:

Restricted Statewide Buck: Good for white-tail, or mule deer statewide. Valid only during the 9-day center-fire season. May not kill a mule deer in any of the Mule Deer Conservation Area.

Statewide White-tail Buck: Valid during all seasons statewide. Limit one white-tail buck.

Explanation can be found online at the Nebraska website, on page 30-31 of the guide.

I am headed to NE to hunt whitetails next week for a few days. I have a statewide archery tag. They are only 216.00. I am tagged out in Iowa so I am going to give it a shot on whitetails.

I have spent the last few days doing some serious internet scouting. I am going during the week so I am hoping the pressure is low. There looks to be great access in NE.
