My first new vehicle

I agree with @VikingsGuy.

If Ford drags its feet selling trucks, the customers will eventually move to Chevy, Dodge and Toyota or buy used. One manufacturer isn’t going to set the market price.
Plus sitting on high cost inventory kills working capital costs in high interest environment. Also, culturally within Ford - losing #1 volume truck label would kill the company.

This will never happen because the all are doing this....it's not just a Ford thing. I see TONS of trucks on the lots, so I don't know what ya'll are even waiting for....just go buy one.

I did. Last rig died on a Tuesday in November. Sold it for scrap by Thursday. Did a quick internet search and found the exact truck I wanted and picked it up on Saturday. GMC.

I didn’t have to play any games with Ford.
 
Ford just couldn't pull it off.

After 8.5 months of waiting (the truck has been done and is just sitting on a lot somewhere for the past 3.5 months)I gave up. Three months ago a brake caliper locked up in my truck. No big deal, $150 and an hour of my time had it fixed. Last month the transmission went to hell. That pissed me off...when I found out it was a recall issue it really pissed me off. My truck had a recall for issues with the 6R80 transmission and I had the recall done. It seems that there were issues with the "molded lead frame" a part that connects the truck's computer with the solenoids that operate the transmission. Instead of replacing the faulty part Ford decided that they could fix it with a software re-program. If that didn't work they would replace the molded lead frame, but only up to 150,000 miles. So at 190k mine went out and I spent $600 in parts and six hours of my time pulling the valve body out and fixing it because I can't justify $2000+ to have a shop do it when I have a new truck coming. I almost called the dealership at that point but decided to hold out, after all Ford assured me they were really really trying to get my truck shipped.

Over the weekend I broke a leaf spring. There was a lot of swearing, some thoughts of certain corporate offices burning to the ground, and a few beers consumed. The next day I called the dealership and told them I wanted my deposit back, what happens to the new truck is up to them and Ford Motor Company.

Brand dealerships and engineered obsolescence are exasperating customers with impunity post covid...

I'm sure they're still blaming covid related supply chain issues, not that they're trying to absolutely maximize profit without a care in the world about screwing the consumer.
 
We have 2 trucks which when running a business in the mountains was a necessity but now seems a bit much (mountain bizness is no mo). We're thinking of selling the F150 (2021, not paid off) and keeping the Tacoma (2016, paid off). The F150 is nicer for car camping and comfier on road trips but not as good as the taco at off-roading. Also the display (giant screen) is annoying. I like the F150, but love the taco. Maybe we can make a deal @Gut Shot and we can get you our F150! It has a popped up topper and queen mattress in the back.
 
Thanks for the offer, ammo. I looked at the tundra and just didn't care for it so I picked up an F150. Now seeing the issues that the toyotas are having I'm glad I didn't get one.

It sucks but when you're picking a car brand all you're really doing is reaching into the toilet bowl and grabbing the turd you think smells better than the others.
 
New Tundras should be avoided until they sort their engine trouble out.

When you recall 100K trucks and REPLACE THE ENGINE it doesn't speak well for the decline in quality control.

Shopping next spring starting to look now. Still not sure whether it will be lightly used or new, but at this point if I can get a good interest rate on now it might just beat the total cost of a slightly used one as the interest rates are so high on them and dealers aren't cutting prices much.

I will be looking at 25 Rams today when I have my older one in for service. Intrigued by all the great reports on their new twin turbo 6 that replaced the hemi. Said to be ultra smooth with more power and torque than the standard hemi and better MPG by quite a bit. Beefed up the rear axle a bit to handle the extra torque as well.

My mechanic said they all have trouble these days but the v8 fords have the least. I do like the aluminum body panels we have plenty of rust issues here.

Suddenly in the last month or so there are a lot of trucks on most dealer lots. GMC dealer has more than they've had in years. Their 6.2 8 is intriguing, wish it didn't require premium to run well though.

Nissan is dropping the Titan entirely, they lag behind the others a bit on many things but are a reliable solid truck these days--might be worth looking at to see if there are deals to get them off inventory.
 
Just drove a 25 Ram Rebel with the new 3 liter twin turbo. Plenty of power and smooth shifting...couldn't feel it shift. Better MPG than my older hemi even sitting up a bit on mud tires. Didn't realize how huge their crew cab back seat is now!
