MT WT quest round 3

Another day another deer !! The folks wanted to do an afternoon WT doe hunt , so I took them to a spot I knew had some , they had 4 does around them no shot

I sent up on the left of them , I had nothing happening so with 1 hr or so till sunset , I backed out and looped around my folks to the other good knob

As soon as I sat down I saw deer out on private then 200 plus elk in a field maybe 300 , then a deer walking threw a field towards me , then a deer appears in the grass straight out from
Me, Pow 💥

So when the deer came out, it was standing broadside it turned its head kind of looked My direction had no clue I was there, then bent itself completely in half and had its head underneath its stomach scratching or doing something and when I was underneath stomach, I could clearly see the back of it head though the scope , no horns, I just set up on the neck and front shoulder area squeezed the trigger and it dropped in the scope.

When we got up there and turned it to start working on it, I see a inch and a half perfectly round circle with a little bit of guts coming out on one side of the underbelly and a bullet hole in the neck and my dad thought it went clean through and then we rolled over the other side you saw a small hole an inch and a half above the stomach through the lower ribs, and we realize that the bullet went through clean the neck killed and the deer then Went through the lower ribs and exited the bottom of the stomach. I missed all 4 qtrs the tenderloins and backstrap. I’ll take that all day. I couldn’t do it again if I tried but it worked today.

This is the first doe tag I’ve ever ever filled in my life, I picked up an extra in 2022 when I moved here but I ate the tag. I didn’t get serious about trying to fill it and this year with my parents being here and we’re gonna eat more meat. I wanted to fill the tag this time

I never took a picture of my second set up because I had so many animals everywhere I got locked in

As it lay

After i gutted it and got it across the river, I went up and took a picture from my set up and then went to the truck and got the game cart

Was about 175 yard shot I ranged it afterwards. There’s a red dot where the deer came out right to left. And then if you zoom in and look down right on the bank of the river, you can see my deer laying there. I drug it across the river by myself and then washed it in the river and cleaned out all the extra gook , staged it and went for the game cart.

OK, I’m officially taking a break tomorrow. I’m not going out no matter what.

Congrats! Great stories and a great hunting adventure!
Our first full year in MT with my parents residents now , first time we got to hunt together since 2020 , definitely a season I’m gonna cherish 4 deer in 4 days with a one day break in there.

Our best season since 2018 , when my wife and I both harvested our biggest Blacktails back in Oregon, then I got a Rosie Branch Bull and was able to get out with dad and got him on a Rosie Branch Bull , it was also the last time my dad harvested an animal. 6 years without a harvest, so glad I was able to help guide him. This year his spirits are so high now 😎

Chris, I am proud of you sir. You are a blessing to your wife and family, and God blessed you big time this year with some great days of hunting. My dad and I hunted this evening, and are hunting again in the AM. Temperature is going to be 35 so hopefully the whitetail are running. This is the lowest temp of the year so far in SC. Congrats sir!!
