MT lion tag WTF!!

Well after waiting the past 6 months to once again become a MT resident, I could not get my much waited for lion license today!!
Saw that new snow is on the way for this week-end and decided that with the five day wait after purchase of lion license, we had better get into town and get our tags.
The lion reg book says on page two, "There is no deadline to purchase a general mountian lion license. However, a hunter who purchases a general mtn lion license after August 31 may not hunt lions until five days after the license is issued." Good enough, seems clear, the five day wait is crap of the highest degree but it is in the rules and everybody knows about it in advance. So how come when we get to the license agent they can not even make the words MOUNTIAN LION show up on the web page!! Of course it is a holiday for gov. workers so there is nobody to call or even stop by and see in person to try to purchase a license from. Anybody know who to call or how to actually buy a lion tag? The season did not even come up on their screen of choices. What's with that. twodot

Was the quota for the unit you wanted to hunt full and no longer available.....?

no, the quotas are not the issue at all. The license does not even show up as available on the site at all. They are showing 13 areas with quotas filled, out of approximatily 150 hunting districts available.

got on the phone with f&w. They informed me that after the season actually began,I have to physically go to a regional FWP office to purchase a license. Who are the genuises that think this kind of rule up? They must think that everyone lives next door to an office. A bit frusterated this morning, but what the heck, it's only a 2 and a half hour drive each way to the office. I have made up my mind that I won't discuss the reasoning that you can't purchase a bobcat license after November 30 even though the season runs thru March. I wouldn't wish the transition from Non-Res too Resident during hunting season on my worst enemy. It can be a bit trying. twodot
