Most memorable moments hunting 2022!

My son and his first grouse about 4 hours before I killed a bull, and getting to be with my wife taking her first deer in 12 years. All happened within 5 miles of each other 4 and a half hours from home.

Edit: my daughter has been purposely left out because she is an absolute menace to any kind of productive hunting efforts.

Bear camp in spring with my brothers and friends. We all have come to agree that bear camp is probably our favorite hunting activity of the whole year. Such a beautiful time to be out and then we glamp in a remote Airbnb so can de-tick and unwind in comfort.

I have a few memorable moments for 2023. Started off with a 5 day canoe trip which was much needed after a crazy year with work. Killed my first bull elk, successfully hunted whitetail with my brother for a whole week and helped my FIL on his whitetail hunt.

We were very happy that my wife's dad could make the trip to Saskatchewan this year with all the health issues he's had. The weather was pretty brutal but I had set him up a blind and heater so that definitely helps. I hope to do it again next fall!

2022 was a great year hunting in so many ways. We went 5 for 5 with 3 bulls and 2 cow elk DIY and a member in our group had a heart attack while in the field and we got him to a hospital and then he had successful surgery. The weirdest thing I ever experienced happened on a moonlit night when we were following a hit bull and I came up on him and he was alive on a grassy bench on a mountain top in the moonlight and I wanted the cape for a friend who needed one so we didn't shoot him to finish him. I jumped on his back and grabbed a horn to control him and plunged my knife behind the shoulder. The bull began to bugle as he died.

Most memorable moment of 22 was hunting antelope with dad and doubling one morning on a herd with 2 nice bucks. Mine dropped in his tracks, dad's did not. Finally caught up with him about 1.5 miles later only to find he had dropped his horn. Back tracked almost the entire mile and a half and actually found that sucker. Good thing to his goat is flirting in that high 79 range.....

Second most memorable moment. Leaving my wife behind when she got stuck crossing a barbwire fence opening morning when there was 5 bulls moving cross country in front of us. Then shooting the bull right out from under her cause she couldn't find him in the scope as he's going away.

🤷‍♂️

Man she was pissed.....

Idk if I can pick just one moment so here are my choices lol. Spring bear was pretty awesome. Finally connecting on the big Chocolate I had on my bait for the last two years but never seen in person. After getting him setting up a brand new bait near town and spotting a big black on there I chased him for two weeks. He was tricky coming in at all hours before disappearing and coming back. He hit the morning of June 29 my last day to hunt and second last day is spring bear and with 7 minutes left in shooting light he marched in cracking branches and acting like he owned the place.

In the fall opening day of goose season last bird of the morning a friend sailed. Duke went after it out of sight for about five minutes and next thing you know here he came back with that honker. 2nd last duck hunt of the year 3 man limit with ducks right in the decoys just perfect. If we had wanted I’m sure we wouldn’t have had to shoot a bird past twenty yards that morning. They wouldn’t circle just lock wings drop feet and come in

My dad and brother shooting two bull moose side by side was pretty cool. Wish I could have been there to see it. Although I was immediately called to help with the retrieval since I had the new tub trailer to test out lol.

Actually shooting a WT off my deer bait. Four years of baiting and it’s the first one I have shot over bait. He had me jacked up I was shaking bad!

Lots of good stuff in here. Season will be here again before you know it. Had lots of good times last year. Most notable being first western trip with my 11yr old daughter and the taking of a D.I.Y antelope, and the close 2nd is shooting first 68780004799__456B3D08-626C-4214-AB06-602E55CA377F.jpegpheasants over my new GSP that my kids and I did all the training for.

Thanks to everyone for sharing photos of all the happy faces.
