The other thought in my mind on this is that the monies gained by sale of inaccessible state properties possibly can build a pool of money for the state to use to purchase a like number of acres (no net acres gained) for the public. The possibility to purchase better places with access to recreational land.
@Ben Lamb do you have any thoughts on this one?
Greg Kmetz does some goofy stuff (mRNA ban) but dang if he doesn’t tell his party to F off now and then.
Aint just sportsman. Itll be the property taxes that go up, or the school funding going down.ccan you imagine who would actually be allowed to purchase these if it were to pass, and at what price,,,
the person that owns the surrounding parcel most likely, and since there landlocked there worth mere pennies on the dollar,
after there sold though and in one piece, the price would be astronomical for resell,
American Prairie might have some properties to buy after all,
seems very few people would actually benefit,
montana sportsmen. would get the shaft,
anyone that would vote for this bill needs remembered during election
Oh so glad you speak of the possibilities! The other thought in my mind on this is that the monies gained by sale of inaccessible state properties possibly can build a pool of money for the state to use to purchase a like number of acres (no net acres gained) for the public. Sorry to chime in with nothing but cynicism, but that was probably an oversight and they’ll find a way to exclude American Prairie.American Prairie might have some properties to buy after all,
It did not. The bill hasn’t been scheduled in committee on the Senate side yet.If I understand correctly it passed 91/9 in the Senate.
Strange, my senator just sent me a message saying this. Must have mixed something up.It did not. The bill hasn’t been scheduled in committee on the Senate side yet.
Verify and clarify. Ask your senator which committee advanced it.Strange, my senator just sent me a message saying this. Must have mixed something up.
I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully they are working behind the scenes?Almost a week into this and still no call to action that I’ve seen from conservation orgs. Am I missing something? Why aren’t we hearing more about this? It’s potentially the biggest land grab that we’ve seen in MT. I’m hoping that someone in know will telll us it’s DOA in the senate. @DP_PublicLands @Big Fin @Ben Lamb
I don't think you are missing something. Lots of problems with this bill, from many different angles and interest groups. Thus, the bill still awaits assignment, so it is hard to ask people to comment in an effective manner without knowing where/when the bill is headed.Almost a week into this and still no call to action that I’ve seen from conservation orgs. Thank you. I've held off on commenting for the very reason that you mentioned. I will continue to monitor it here.I don't think you are missing something. I wouldn't say it is DOA in the Senate, but hopefully will die a quick death there. Suffice to say, the Governor is not too interested in seeing this bill on his desk; helpful to killing this bill in the Senate.
