I think it’s great . But there should just be mandatory reporting after the season and that would solve the phone tag part of it .

I can't remember what I had for dinner last weekend. No way I'm remembering, with any accuracy, how many days I spent in which units (with a tag valid for the entire state), over the course of SIX (yes elk season is six months long) months, beginning well over six months ago. I got the call and never called back. Unless guys keep detailed hunting journals I just don't see any use of this "data" other than maybe it's slightly less biased and more accurate than talking about the past hunting season at the local bar or one of the Sitka/Stone Glacier hunt rendezvous in BZN.

One call for deer and once call for elk for me. I also answered questions for my son about deer.

It's ridiculous that they call once for each species, especially when it is months later as was the case for elk for me this year (I don't hunt the shoulder season). I know the reason they call for different species has to do with their sampling method. Basically its not random if you call the same people for each species. That said it is still ridiculous, they don't get accurate results, everybody lies, and even those that don't lie just don't remember when it is up to 6 months later.

Mandatory reporting would fix all of it. Simple and efficient using today's technology.

I got a turkey yesterday in KY. It look me 50 seconds to register it online and get a confirmation number. It was not a burden on me.

Yup . Something like this . Give some many hours after the kill to report it . Or email with survey attached day after the general season ends would be fine too

The last difficult thing to draw that I drew was a MD doe tag. Was something like 12% odds.

Yeah the entire state of Montana is kind of a bummer to hunt
