Memorial Weekend

Headed to OR to open up the shack. Fix my water system, cut wood (while we can), shoot some pistolas, see what I can catch on the trail cam, ride the ATV to the high country.
A few sips of adult beverage around the campfire at night.

If I had my druthers, I'd be trolling the North end of Seminoe Reservoir for spawning rainbow and walleye, but my wife's bad back precludes any travel for some time, so will hang out here, keep the flag flying and out of the rain, and honor the ones who've gone before us.
I think also I'll dig out my "What did you do in the war, Daddy" photo album and visit with the guys of an earlier time.

I am working but get 6 days off following in exchange. My wife got some of her work entered into the Wallowa Valley Festival Of Arts so we are headed that way. Happy for her!

Plans?

Riding to Taos, NM area this Thursday. Red River's annual Memorial Day rally draws thousands of bikes..my first time to see it. Last week the temps here in N Tx went from hi 70's to low 100's overnight...ready for the cool New Mexico mountains. Guess my NM hunt odds grievance boycott will have to wait.;)

If you get sick of the crowds in Red river, here is a food tip. Head down the pass to Questa and eat at a little burger dive called the Wilcat den. Great hamburgers and fries.... And a the fries can be smothered with some Salsa If I recall. Get the green chili on your burger!

Taking my 9 year old tomorrow to look for bears until Memorial Day.

Thankful for all those serving and those that have served.

Graduation party for my son ( high school ) and me ( masters in nursing, psych mental health NP ) and then two days fishing for big hybrids and brookies at Henrys Lake! Hope the weather cooperates...

Also, greatest respect for those serving, past and present

Nothing very exciting for my Wife and I; we are just going to get caught up on some work around the House. finish getting the Garden planted, and we need to wash and reseal the Deck and I will be braking in my New Grill with some Ribeyes, and BBQ Ribs over the weekend.

Kevin

Trip through Yellowstone's Lamar Valley, Cody, then to Casper to visit my 92 yr old mother-in-law with my wife. Return in time to join my VietNam Veteran compadres in a parade in Bozeman for Memorial Day, followed by a veterans' memorial ceremony at the replica VietNam Memorial Wall, also recognizing the Gold Star families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving in hostile environments.

Please pause briefly during this holiday to remember and honor those who have passed before and are unable to be here to enjoy the holiday. They made it possible for us to do so with so many freedoms.

I think my wife is working 12 hour shifts all weekend so it will be just me and the kids. Maybe I will try to take them camping at least one night. Even if it's in the backyard :D

Heading to Houston, TX to see some friends and do the Houston Mud Run.

Should be fun and probably a few beers involved post-race.

Saturday headed out to the range early morning with my 17 y/o HS grad so she can show me up with her 7mm-08. I've got a new AR that needs some breaking in.

Saturday night, UFC.

Sunday, Church, 500, 600.

Monday, take a nice long ride solo and clear the head before packing for a trip to MT(work sadly).

Friday, I'll see a buddy off to the airport as he starts a year deployment to Afghanistan

Saturday I'd like to go looking for deer in my GMU

Sunday=Church & a Nap, nuff said

Monday???? Maybe a BBQ with the family at Cheyenne Mtn or Mueller SP

Best to you, NHY and everyone for a happy Memorial weekend! Many to honor!

We are driving to my brother’s place near Meeteetse, Wy late this afternoon (Fri) after work. For a couple of decades our families and friends meet to play baseball and celebrate Memorial Day in Wyoming. We have enough people show up to field two full teams for a couple of games each day with players of all ages. I do most of the pitching (behind a cage!).
Our oldest daughter won’t make it this year. She is pregnant with her first child and is limiting her travel. She served in the National Guard and we will be thinking of her and her family while we play ball.

Add a slice of apple pie and that is pure Americana! Well done.
