Maybe I'm in a Chitty mood but...

It's one thing to Write Bitchy Letters for Fun, that falls under "down time" but to take the time to Bitch about their yards of petty things I won't do. I've already admitted I should have had it done and I should also do it for a Nice look. that was the Intent.

What I didn't like was the presentation of the letter. If I was the Pres of the board, I'd ofwent to the house and told them first before giving a 10 day threat.

tom, I'm glad to hear about your 3 old broken down cars, having my wife cook me some Elk steaks, and putting my 8,6, and 3 year old to work in the cold...... thanx for the Comparison.

Cali's comparison is exactly right......

send the letter moosie......i have probs with people every year for stupid chit.....i get so tired of nosey people getting so worried about what my yard looks like.they must have really boring lives to worry about my yard:D:D:D

My neighbor harangues me about a few shoots of nut or dallas grass....I tell him they hide the cigarette butts he throws in my yard.

Use your vast arsenal of people skills Moosie...you'll have em scratching there heads or staging a 'fence raising' party in no time. Have good day, bye.

Tell them what I tell them. F.O. I own the property and I'll do with it as I please. Thets why I'll never live in a new house. I'll be damned if some pucking tree hugger POS is gonna tell me where I can or can not change my oil or rebuild my motor on property I own.

I just sent one back to my HOA. They sent me a letter complaining about a plastic log cabin I had in the corner of my yard for a week for my grandson. It wouldn't fit through the gate. I compared them to nosey goose stepping Nazis and told them it was a decorative addition to go with the pink flamingos I had on order. The lady who wrote back was offended at the Nazi comment as she was a Jew. It was gone before I got the letter. Bottom line is that if you fight the HOA they will prosecute using the prevailing law and they can end up sticking you with thousands in attorney's fees so I would get the fence done asap and let it go. HOAs are good for property values but they are also a haven for pinhead neighbors who have small peckers. Good luck.

I do agree with you, Moosie, that a simple phone call or visit would have been nice. Most people, unlike us on this forum though, want to avoid confrontation and a letter accomplishes that. (Chickenchits!)

...why this sudden repetitive predeliction for phallic reference?....some manifestation of sub-conscious gender confusion? ....if you are you jonesing for johnson, get a hold of yourself.

Where did you find the best price for Pink Flamingos? I also hate the HOA where I live AND have a conservation easement through my lot(read irrigation ditch when it was still a cow pasture). I can't touch anything in that area or disrupt the flow of water. I have never even seen it damp looking. In fact there in no culvert going under the road to even supply it with water.

I think Pink Flamingos would look real sharp in it.

Oh by the way I would send the letter. Give them someting to do at their next meeting.

All i can say is I am a H.O.A.`s worst nightmare... 5 acres of stuff all over the place.. BUUHAHAHA... and i love it.

HOA's can be both good and bad. I built my modest home 12 years ago in a nice quiet subdivision in the country. I had to join the assocciation to live there, dues have been paid ever since. All the time when I did something I went to the proper channels as I wanted to be a good neighbor. The HOA in the past few years has been non- exsistant come to find out. 2 years ago my immediate neighbors to my left and right moved away. Replacing them were what we call Bubba #1 and Bubba #2. By that I mean these folks came from a trailer park and could care less about rules and regulation set forth to protect the entire subdivision. They disregard most everything, one of them built a metal shop 5 ft off my property line, the other let's his above ground go, the water in it is greener than my grass and is a huge skeeter magnet. They dont mow their grass, tend to have beer guzzling contest on the weekends, have there fights outside...bla bla bla, I could go on.....
The HOA is doing nothing about this...why? I suppose because the officers dont live next to these folks. So where am I at, the wife and I have worked hard to get what we have and taken pride into our place(as with the entire subdivision) All it takes is a couple of non conformist and a HOA without nads and I am screwed. What I have worked hard on and spent money on is for naught.I could put a lein on the guy with the shop on my property line but I am not planning to, I still want to be a good neighbor. The only thing I could do is to build a privacy fence up so I dont have look at all there junk and messy yards. The fence cost me $15K but is worth it to me and my family. It stands 8 ft high and yes I did get approval form the non exsistant HOA.

Sorry to rant on but they make rules for a reason, if ya dont want to abide by them dont sign your morgage papers and move on.

Ha! The answer is llamas. Use those pillars as to tether out some llamas for a couple weeks.

Cal Hunters description of the messy neighbor almost fits yours exactly with all the collector cars......

In a neighborhood like yours and mine, CCR's have their place. A friendly visit would have been good. If its gonna be a while before you get it done, why not save some $ and remove the pillars? That take no more than a few hours with a sledge and a trip to the landfill.

I don't know how you guys can deal with those HOA's or CCR's or whatever you have. I have enough problems with the town I live in, let alone some kind of association that makes up rules to protect themselves from Pickups in the driveway, or fences that ain complete. I would fight them the whole way, guess thats why I am always in trouble.
