I am looking to get a bow. It will be my first but I am looking forward to it. I have a limit of 600 dollars so it won't be the best, but it will have to do. Any advice on purchasing one? Any of em to stay away from?

go look for last year models you could get some great deals on a package around that price. I got my buddy a Bowtech Tomcat last year with everything on it and 12 arrows for $675.00 go do some shopping. I like the Bowtech but get what you like.

Ditto what Cathunt said, Sportsmans Warehouse generally has the previous years top end Bowtech models for dang near half price. Usually in early July. 2 years ago I bought a previous years Bowtech patriot VFT that I had seen a month earlier listed for $649, I ended up with it for $399.

Another option is used. Lots of top end used bows sell for less than half price, fully set up with high end stuff.
I know of a 28", 70 lb Hoyt Razortec, 2003 model, set up with everything for about $350, including arrows. Owner riped his rotorcuff, needs to go down to a 60 lb bow.

Oh yeah, I need a 30 inch draw? If you guys hear of any good deals let me know.

Carbon Archer & A-con have some good advice. My first bow was a 1 yr. old, used High Country that I got for way less than 1/2 price. For what its worth, last yr. I bought a Hoyt ultramag completely set up for not a heck of a lot more than $600. So far I really like it.
