Is there a state where hunting (shooting) from a vehicle is legal?

While I agree it is certainly not ethical, I am curious if taking big game animals from a vehicle is actually legal anywhere? Able bodied, not Handicapped...

Second question, would "scoping " an animal (but not shooting) be prosecutable as intent?

In MT a disabled person can hunt from public roads from a vehicle with the proper permit. Any private land road with permission you can also hunt and shoot from a vehicle.

Idaho allowed this when I was a kid. But the hunter had to have a F&G permit.

Wisconsin if you have disabled plates. Vehicle must be parked and not running though if I recall. But not able bodied

Texas and maybe Florida. We had a lease hunter turn a old land cruiser into a mobile deer blind, it was pretty neat. He would drive to where he wanted to hunt, had a office chair in the back and shot from the back window.

I’ve killed lots of hogs from trucks and jeeps.

I don't know if it was legal or not but back in the 80s when I was a kid my dad would take me out driving the gravel roads when we had good roadside habitat in Iowa. He always had a little 22 rifle he would shoot rabbits with out the truck window. Got alot of rabbits that way.

Not to be a jack wagon but I have the special handicap license you speak of and I do not believe you can shoot from public roads with it.

Some states you can. Iowa is one of them during the deer season.

I remember being surprised to hear that it was legal to shoot from a vehicle from a private road in Nebraska... can't even remember where I heard that but I decided to do a quick search to confirm or deny.

Quick Google search of their deer regs came up with this

Unlawful Hunting Methods - It is unlawful to:
• chase, run, harass, kill or shoot any deer from a moving motor vehicle or vessel.
• shoot from the right-of-way of a public road.
• carry a firearm on a snowmobile, except when it is unloaded and in a case.
• hunt from or with a snowmobile.
• use a spotlight or other artificial light from a vehicle or vessel while having in possession or control any firearm, crossbow or bow and arrow.
• use two-way radios, cell phones or any other electronic devices to transmit information about the location of any game animal or game bird to or from a conveyance of any type (vehicles,
aircraft, boats, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, etc.).

So I guess that lends credence to what I heard. The way I read that a guy could go park on the edge of a field, on private with permission, and use the truck as a blind to hunt out of. You just can't be chasing deer down.

Hunting is done on 4wheelers, snowmobiles, Boats, Bikes, E-bikes snowdogs, every season.
public waters, forest trails ext...
I think they have to be stopped and not under power.
We can carry loaded guns in our trucks and open carry with no permits.

That doesn’t seem to be the case in NE Montana. There doesn’t even need to be trails, roads, or a flat surface to use your truck to hunt out of from what I’ve seen. Kidding….but not really.
