Hunting Opportunity For Rancher Haters!

Paul, your full a crap as always.

If the welfare ranchers fold, there will be more tax dollars saved...thusly more money to hire more gummint employees...who will have even less work to do.

Actually, as long as theres public lands, there will be demand for good land managers...despite what happens with the WELFARE rancher...pointers job will be pretty secure.

Paul,

If you follow the Orders that many of the Judges issue to kick the Welfare Ranchers off the Leases, it is because the BLM has not done any updates to Grazing plans for more than 30 years. It looks like 1-Pointer is choosing a field with plenty of demand for work, and as I have said before, I assume this battle will be won in the next 20 years, which should give 1-Pointer enough time to enjoy a good career.

It is the Welfare Ranchers who typically don't want the BLM doing any range quality surveys. They know that nothing but reductions in allottments will come, as they are aware the range is in sh!tty shape.

And hopefully 1-Pointer is objective, and uses the proper science and analysis to improve the range quality. Typically, the biologists and range managers all know the truth, they are just silenced by higher level political wonks.

And based on his posts here, 1-Pointer seems like a rational, objective person. I am sure he will do fine, and I think your accusations are baseless. Hopefully I am reading them out of the context you intended.

Elkgunner,

Just preping the lad for life in the public service sector. I am also very offended by such talk of smoking beautiful wild horseys. I'll be filing a complaint with his supervisor when he gets one.

Seriously Pointer, good luck with the new job.

Paul

I have little experience with wild ponies, except for breaking some select ones to the saddle. I do know the domestic stock with shod hooves and working in pack strings cause tremendous trail errosion, and that wild horse will camp on waterholes when water starts to get scarce.

What have I missed?

Paul- Thanks for the prep work! Yesterday, was my first day on the job and it was enlightening. As far as me being tied to the hip of a welfare rancher, I'd have to disagree. There is quite a bit of work as a ranch consultant/manager in the private sector. Also, I've tailored my education to allow me to enter the environmental consulting profession, which with the Data Quality Act will be a growing field. Thanks for the thoughts, though. My self preservation kicked years ago when I decided not to pigeonhole myself into only one thing. Plus, I'm not to proud to do most anything for a living to support my family.

Are land managers operating under a mandate capable of being objective? Science is supposed to be objective, management should be based on science. Management is biased because of values applied to products of the land or other attributes of the landscape (views, preservation, etc.).
