Hunting by yourself

I guess I expected a little better from this community. Sorry to disappoint you but I exist. Thanks for re enforcing my concerns.
Lady, you joined this forum 24 hours ago and your first and only comment was a worry-wart/negative nanny goat vibes. Seemed bot-like šŸ˜›

The woods are safe. Wellā€¦talk to me in 2 hours after reporting on the efficacy of my dadā€™s treestand put-up-inā€™ skillsā€¦

I think itā€™s good practice for people to know both methods of field dressing. I used to only gut them skin and quarter. Like mtmuley I was hesitant to change. Iā€™m glad I know gutless to now and use both.

For me it depends on the circumstances. How big the animal, how it fell, if I have help or not. For solo hunting elk I would want to know gutless.

Is hunting by yourself as a lone woman even safe in today's world? I have been too worried to even try it. Now more than ever.
I guess it would depend on where you are at and other factors. My opinion is no less than doing any number of other things. If unsure I would start with day hunts.

Have you hunted at all or brand new to it? If new hunting with a partner first would help in a number of ways including confidence.

I asked my wife and she said ā€œas long as I was prepared and had the proper gear I would feel safer hunting by myself than walking a city street.ā€

I guess that's a good way to see it

Irregardless of gender i would prefer if none of my kids hunted alone. Hard to argue with them cause I've hunted alone all my life.

I can spill the guts in about 10 minutes. I like the heart, liver and tenderloins. Easy. Then peel the hide side to side as you remove quarters. Peel the neck and the rest of the trim. Backstrap last. Always have a small tarp or piece if tyvek. mtmuley
Tyvek. Never thought about that. Love this. What size do you carry and does blood wash off tyvek easily?

Tyvek is so light you could carry about any size you want. I like at least 8x8. I bet if you stop by a construction site near you that is using it you could get some for about nothing. Or a six pack. Since I have access to it, I've never tried to wash it off. It's a moisture barrier, so I'm thinking it would come clean. mtmuley

I hate to be at that stage. mtmuley
I have slept in just about every situation over the years. Bare ground, no shelter, no nothing. Bivy sack in a snowstorm. Backpacking tent, wall tent, camper, back of truck, back seat of truck.
Comical this last week down South of Dillon with my baby truck. Decided to back seat it. Can't stretch out. Issues with the truck doors randomly locking, even once with the fob inside. This time the back doors locked while I was in the back seat. Talk about a fish in a barrel.
It was only for one night I reassure myself.
