Last hunting post of the season. I was thrilled to be able to go out for rabbits in the fresh snow. Last year this spot had the lowest production I had ever seen, and I couched my expectations. Three fluffy snowfalls had built up to about 20”, and it was slow walking. I ended up flushing nine, probably my most ever. All but one were hidden under briars bent low with heaps of heavy snow on top, and the rabbits burst out when I got within a couple steps away. Ended up w/ shots at three in the thick cover, and came home with two.

Baby boy is here! He’ll be in the NICU for several days, but should come home after that. Mom was in labor for 39 hours, no pain meds per her choice, but baby stalled and we ended with a c-section, 1 day short of full-term. So far his appearance takes strongly after his mama.
