Hunt Talker Hunt 2014

Congratulations on the engagement. That now makes her your fiancé. May she always be your girlfriend even after the ceremony.

I sure am glad you guys changed areas, some poor dude was charged by a large grizzly bear the other night in the area I would have taken one of you. He held his nerve and the bear stopped at 30 feet. It would be a shame to have kick someone in the knee and then have to call your wife and tell her about your clumsiness and an attacking grizzly. :)

Heh! Some poor sod thought the intent of carrying a firearm or Bear spray was to defend against a griz... It is, somewhat. :D

Looks to be a real good time!

That is great stuff drahthaar! haahahahahaha - great posts, fantastic thread! Good luck and have a blast Hunt Talkers!
...with all the Sterling, Bundy, land grabbin', obamacare (sorry), politics and whacka do's, etc., it sure is refreshing to read within, and get excited, feel blessed and thankful! This is sweet, wish you luck again and safe travels guys.

Gerald is right, bears are being seen. I have been going out glassing the last few evenings and have spotted some really nice bears. Yesterday I tried to make it into one of my favorite spots but, as you can see in the first pic, there was still a little too much snow on the road. It is only about a 400 yard stretch that holds snow this late, and it should be passable by the time you guys get here. Since that plan was a bust, I headed to another spot and spotted a huge brown bear right away. At first I thought he was griz due to his size and location, but after I got the scope on him I confirmed that he is very large brown phase black bear. He was in a tricky spot to get to and I just did not have enough time to make a stalk. I would like to say I will leave him for one of you, but I think I better head back up there and have a go at him if he shows back up. The spot he is at is visible from a road and there are some other guys with a barret .50 cal that were taking shots over 1200 yards at bears in that spot last year.

I spotted this nice black bear near by later in the evening and even got within range. I set up for a shot on him but just couldn't pull the trigger knowing that big chocolate bear was just up the hill.

Good thing the tag isn't a true over the counter tag. I don't want to get divorced for caving in next week and buying yet another out of state hunting license, once we start glassing up some bears...

PS.

6 days and a wake up, until I'm back in Montana.

You can always find a new wife :D

I'll bring my extra 7mm rm just in case.

This is why I always have $200-400 squirreled away in my wallet...it was her idea!

Truth be told, we keep our finances separate. I could spend $300 on Whopper JR's(with cheese) and her only question would be, "Why do I smell onion?"
