Hunt Talker 2023 Fitness Goals

Decided that from now till October I need to smoke my legs two days a week in the weight room. Today I did dead lifts, reverse lunges, and Romanian dead lifts.

Mission accomplished.

Wednesday will be back squats, kettle bell swings, and sumo goblet squats.
Take that bag O concrete, which I assume is in a pack, and lung round the block... I still can't do the end of the driveway (400') and back.

Bulgarian split squat if you really feel like not walking the next day... but momma will make comments about your cake. So there's positives.

I just got back from a week in Maui. Ate whatever I wanted and had a few drinks. Gained 3lbs. Now back to work.

My boys are gonna be out here in mid July, I’ll be running wild with them , 2 weeks out of the gym and off my normal diet routine, I shiver to think of the weight I might gain !

Plus my brother is flying in this Thursday for a concert, and I’m taking him to some bull riding events.

July will be a blast , but damage will be done

Yesterday was a complex 3 muscle snatches then 2 power snatches then a overhead squat for 12:00 building to your heaviest rep

Then drop weight for 5 rounds of
400 meter run followed by 15 overhead squats , i finished in 15:28

I am not a workout animal like some on here, but I have been rucking 2.5 mi per day lately with 35 lbs in the pack. I have an Achilles issue that has been slowing me down this spring, but it is slowly improving.

Today's ruck was a bit shorter due to a blood-sucking squadron of highly trained and well armed mosquitos that coordinated their attack on me perfectly. I left a trail of dead kamikaze mosquitos, but not before taking some direct hits. As I type this, I am about 3 quarts low on blood and look like a poster child for a small pox outbreak. On the plus side, I know the spray that we use to control mosquitos in our yard is working great as we have no mosquitos. I think they relocated to one of my ruck trails. They win, they can have it.

Man, you guys are crazy. I just pick up my kids a bunch and carry all their stuff around ehen we go out and I'm ready to go. I even keep the gut for those long days packing elk and running down sheep. Gotta start with a reserve when you can't keep up the calorie intake on a week or 10 day trip.
Dad-bod for the win!

Steady @ 172lbs. Meet with new Dr. this month after blood work next week. Have meds.

I just unloaded the ranch tags to worthy folks. I get firewood, labor and bison meat. Rio gets a bison bone.
Billy gets the bow tag and meat. His wife gets otc antelope hunt. They just lost their 1st baby due in Sept. I get firewood.
The MT bison boys get the 2 MB tags and I get help here on the ranch and meat.

I feel great!

maintaining at least 4 days a week in the gym + stair climber during lunch break. kettle bell or barbell back squats 3 times a week. lots of pull ups and push ups.

looking for some days to schedule alpine outings with @trb to really wreck the lungs a little. still plenty of snow up there though. i think i said a goal of six peaks this summer in this thread? need to get to work on that; more or less have 4 on the calendar right now.

i still adamantly refuse to road run.

summer's cruising... ironically because it just started. i need to finish dialing in my bow, sept is two months out. holy shit.

Note for HTers thinking about getting snipped in the next year or so... don't do it during summer. If you have complications, you'll be grounded and it sucks. On week two of forced rest and I'm sitting here reading about all y'all be outing and about in the sun. Do it during winter when you can just sink your balls into a snow bank

@TOGIE what peaks do you have on the calendar?

I just listened to lance Armstrong on Rogan for like the 3rd time and holy cow, what an inspiration.
I can’t wait for the next mtb race.
After highs school wrestling ended, I never thought I’d get to wear spandex or cut weight again.
But then I found cycling. ❤️
I think I might start donating blood so I can get comfortable with needles and blood transfusions because I want to take this as far as I can.

trying to get South Arapahoe to North Arapahoe traverse on the calendar with trb right now. have crestone needle and humboldt on the calendar in late august. looking for a day to do Meeker via southwest ridge as well.
Nice, I was going to attempt that S to N a few years ago, but never made it up there. Was told I needed to camp the night before or it got crazy crowded. I'll DM you a stupid, but fun, route up on Berthoud

i think 4th of july trailhead can get crazy crowded on weekends but the peaks i don't think are too bad. as is the general rule though, weekdays are best.

i don't think that traverse gets crowded at all.

I would strongly recommend getting cut Wednesday in March before the Thursday start to NCAA March madness B Ball tournament so you can use that as an excuse sit on the couch to watch the opening weekend which is usually the best part of the tournament

That would be the perfect day. When my daughter was born we brought her home Thursday am of the opening round of the NCAA, she and my wife slept a bunch that weekend and I just watched basketball.

1 in 3 vasectomies end in death. Best not to overthink it.

The August day I was sterilized was pretty glorious. Did the deed, my wife bought me some cheese fries and drove me home from Missoula while I ate them and poured a road beer over a couple painkillers. You haven't understood the true virtue contained in a cheese fry till your newly-subdued balls are swollen and you're stoned and your wife's driving you home after what is arguably the closest you've ever been to kicking the bucket.
