Hunt Talker 2023 Fitness Goals

Happy August everyone!

Down 22 lbs since May, alternating between cardio (stair stepper) and HIIT every other day, watching my calories carefully, drinking my mtn ops brotein powder every day. 13 more lbs to be where I want to be for start of the season (always nice to lose the equivalent of an elk shoulder to not have to carry around the mountains).

Now for my least favorite challenge, which I did a few years ago and am doing again: no beer until an elk is down. Be it September though November. Time to take stock of the priorities.

Cheers all!

Oh to be a young studly again...LOL

Just had a great video chat with my pallitive nurse. She was all smiles.
"Your numbers are astounding!" , "Keep up the good work and stay positive"
She looked up my last test and corrected me.
It's down to .021,PSA. The .32 was last month.
New blood tests manana and I feel pretty good.
BP normal. 90% lung capacity still.
Steady 174 weight.
Gaining muscle.
We'll chat again in 3 months.
If I need any support, meds or help call.

I could barely walk, in agony, a year ago.
Sciatica everyone said.
Instead it's stage 4 cancer I was dealt with.

I get my eyes checked next Tuesday and hopefully the catarac fixed.
The next day I go for new dentures.
Life.
Hurdles? Stumbling blocks? Falls?
Get your ass up each morning and get it in gear.

I was reminding my buddy Ray on Sunday that youth is wasted on the young.

Got a 3 mile run in yesterday, headed for the rugged mountains and cliffs of north central Nebraska tomorrow so I gotta save my strength and energy.

10’ elevation gains and 300 yard pack outs would kill most men, but not me! IMG_3117.jpeg

I'm down 13lbs since feb. Feeling in pretty good shape though I've slacked on the running.

My dog's metabolism slowed down as he's hit 7yo now, and he gained 15lbs since last vet check. That snuck up on me! So he's on a diet and lots of swimming since it's too hot to hit the fields. I'd rather have in a great shape for my fall than myself. IMG_5533.jpg

Scaled back a bit the past several weeks, just tough to find the time for more right now. Hot and humid conditions also don’t help, I’ve not enjoyed a fair amount of these miles- the next few months should be nice though.

I’ve been trying to keep it around 25-30 minimum for the week, doing well with that for the most part.
