Hunt Talker 2023 Fitness Goals

DIA to Keystone is ~ 100 miles
Boston Logan to Sunapee ~ 100 miles

Denver is definitely huge catfish.

and i keep seeing articles about how denver is like a top 10 city people are looking to leave.

boulder, golden, and fort collins are some pretty incredible places to live on the front range though. as much i, and everyone, like to shit on boulder, and for good reasons, it's probably about the best spot you can live in that's not a mountain town purely from an access to activities standpoint.

Five months post knee surgery, outside of a spring bear hunt, I'm actually starting to train for the fall.

Sticking to mostly flat ground carrying around a pair of tires, one rubber and on my back the other visceral and above my waistline.

I flippin love it, bro! Repurposed tires are great for all kinds of things.

My goal of 800 cal rowing workout in an hour by May 10th did not pan out due to several mood episodes and med changes. 650 is the closest I got. Since then I’ve put on 10 lbs related to meds, sleep trouble, and low motivation.

I took vacation the week of the 4th to re-roof my hail-damaged house and garage as a solo project. Tearing off 2-year-old shingles was brutal. In 10 straight days I averaged 14-hr workdays and knocked out the project. All in all I lifted about 25,000 lbs of shingles.

This helped rebuilt my motivation to work out regularly, which I continued today by making a redneck weight bar:

I moved out from the garage so I was less-likely to maim someone or impale something if/when my setup broke. Did 40 mins of dips, lunges, clean, jerk, shrugs, step-ups, side shuffles, and curls. Sweaty and feeling accomplished 💪

I signed up to a half Ironman today, so my goal is to not get injured before the event (9 Dec 23) and enjoy the 'race'! I'm building a base by swimming 1.5 hrs, biking 3 hrs and running 3 hrs a week until I head over to WY Sept 23. Then plan to increase this training Oct - Nov to get race ready. Its a great feeling to sign up to an event and get back into training.

Just got back from my three day roadie to Cody in Yellowstone Park drinking beer and whiskey like I got a quota eaten Dairy Queen and restaurant food and had a 24 hour turn around today before we leave to Sheridan Wyoming in a couple hours for another three days of Cowboy Sturgis at the WYO Rodeo , so I came to do the run I did I think on Saturday the day before we left I shaved two minutes and five seconds off my time and increased my speed from 6.7 to 7.1 after being a complete lush !! I think we’re on to @Big Fin , apparently mountain shape just comes from Dairy Queen and beer!!!
Time to change up your training strategy boys

I just looked at the elevation loss and gain and I don’t know how I lost that, unless right before the last straightaway I got off the trail justice 100 yards sooner and just hit the straightaway but I’m still confused

Back to look at my track on onyx I started at a different spot on the bottom Saturday. That’s where my 20 feet of elevation went

Being a hopelessly addicted western hunter that lives in the flatlands of Florida I will be spending lots of time (2-3 hours/week) running/power walking on a treadmill as inclined as it gets with a 45lb weight vest. We call it the treadmill mountain workout, it’s a mind numbing brutal hour!

7/10-7/16 run 6.32 ride 108.51
Didn’t make the race in Michigan because I was afraid it was gonna get rained out and I didn’t want to drive 3.5hrs to camp at a trailhead so I went to Tennessee and got a dope cabin in the woods. 🚀 🪐

I’ve been trying to run a bit. It’s kinda funny because I used to be anti-running. It’s kinda my “quiet time” now. I get up about 3:30 and run as long as I think I need to. I got 16 miles last week. Some days feel like 2 mile days, some days I quit because I need to do other things. I got 6 miles Saturday morning and that seemed to be about my max.
