What ways do you pick who is shooter on a archery elk hunt within a group of hunters? Switch everyday? Shooter stays shooter till he has a shot or opportunity? Rookie goes first? Draw straws?

I like the switch everyday method. Although last time I went was with a "rookie" he'd never killed a elk I've killed a few. He got priority the whole hunt. He's also a damn good friend who's came on hunts with me with no tag in his pocket just to help pack out a elk before that hunt so he earned it.

Thus has been what we've done. Unless it's somebody's first time or for example pm the last hunt they were the one who didn't get a shot then they get preference until they do.

Gosh you're old . . .

It depends on circumstances. New hunter or someone who hasn’t gotten a chance before I let them have multiple opportunities. If another experienced hunter I alternate. Also can depend if someone enjoys being caller.

Generally with rifle spotter gets first option to try and get a shot or pass.
