Oak,
There you have it, the infallible Super Moderator is correct, as to challenge him would mean you don't respect him because of his service 40 years ago......

LMAO - as opposed to the infallible dipshit himself!

Prove I am wrong, then, Einstein-Jose. Go find the first post where elkchsr attacked someone about their job and then find the first post wherein he was attacked about his job and compare the dates.

Unlike you, I admit when I am wrong and make no claim of infallibility. (And in anticipation of your next post, look at the topic you posted claiming that McCain was a coward and a collaborator with the NVA..... you still claiming that to be fact? Do I have to go back and quote you...AGAIN?) You are still not man enough to admit fault. Grow a set...or borrow some from Moosie.

Hmm, I wonder what search terms we could use? Maybe "'ologists" and "pulaski motor"? ;)

I see at this very moment Jose is reviewing his famous "McCain is a coward and collaborator thread"..... the one where he admits that the truth does not matter to him.

more Jose quotes from that thread -

he was a "songbird" to the Communists.

the truth does not matter, as long as everyone knows there are troubling actions by McCain that led to him being called Songbird.

He never did attempt to prove that the tapes he relies upon even exist...because (as he said) the truth does not matter.

Here Cali,

I will do you a favour, I will go get all my quotes out of the thread about McCain getting "swiftboated" by another bunch of right-wing whacko Viet Nam vets. We don't need you making up bullshit and taking stuff out of context, so I will post my comments, in their entirety. Please show where I claimed McCain was a coward and a collaborator.

Fun to watch the McCain camp get Swiftboated....

ringer,

When you sober up, why don't you either provide us a link to your bullshit lies that you are spreading, or, better yet, why don't you see if your few remaining brain cells still have the ability to learn, and you read up on Obama's position on the subject?

Here is a link to get you started when you sober up.

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/ad..._Sportsmen.pdf

ringer,

Anybody that cares what the NRA thinks is not a hunter. When is the last time the NRA cared about hunters?

ringer,

When you sober up, you might see that this thread was not about the NRA until you brought up all your nonsense. The thread was about the irony of Viet Nam vets blowing the whistle on McCain's cooperation with the enemy in times of war, while people like Calif Hunter will soon be turning on another VietNam vet like they did on the Honorable Senator Kerry.

If you want to see what McCain cares about for hunters, look how he doesn't even want to fund biologists to study animals.

Cali,

I just remember how you discredited Kerry and you lapped up all the Swiftboat Attacks. I assume you would turn on McCain when you found out he was a "songbird" to the Communists.

If you can forgive him for that, please let me know.

Cali,

You of all people should be in support of right-wing whacko Viet Nam vets.

How does this guy differ from your hero who made up all the Swiftboat lies in an attempt to discredit the Honorable Senator John Kerry?

Cali,

Are you now saying you don't support the attacks on Vietnam vets made by Right-wing whackos?

I am asking if you support the attacks on Vietnam vets by right-wing whackos.

The topic of this thread is not my support or lack of support, but bringing to attention that McCain is getting "swiftboated" by more opportunistic Vietnam vets who want to get their name in the paper and attack a presidential candidate. Just like with the Swifties, the truth does not matter, as long as everyone knows there are troubling actions by McCain that led to him being called Songbird.

And, because I know you struggle with reading due to your lack of a formal education, I will even BOLD the part that you should pay attention to so you know what the thread was ACTUALLY about......

Hell, even NoHarley was able to see the irony of the right-wing whacko VietNam vets attacking yet another one of there own, but, of couse, NoHarley actually went to college, so his ability to read, comprehend, and understand is likely much higher than someone like yourself.

Please show where I claimed McCain was a coward and a collaborator.

See above, dipshit.

Isn't the ability to communicate effectively usually a sign of higher education? Proper use of punctuation is a grade school or middle school level exercise at best. Not to mention "there" versus "their!" LMAO. What a bozo. I can see how much you learned in college! Or is it simply that you are not as intelligent as you think you are?

Cali,

You are absolutely right..... I have a few typos..... You are THE MAN.....

Now, can you understand the irony that was from the Viet Nam vets attacking yet another of their own?? And you lapping up everything the Swifties said 4 years ago?

Looks like you are "loosing" this one..... I guess you will resort to more name calling.....

Still can't admit you were wrong, eh? You did, in fact, state that McCain was a collaborator and was called "songbird." You asked to me to show you that, and I did. Keep changing the subject.

You attack me on my "lack of education" or "inability to comprehend" while you demonstrate a failure to master basic grammar and 3rd or 4th grade spelling. I can see how much college helped you. :D

go search on Cali's infamous "blank check" post..... Then you will know how he himself in such high esteem.........

I did, this is what I thought of it:

We get it Jose...the only vet you respect is John Kerry yet denigrate the 'anonymous' grunt who has the temerity to suggest there are diffident people, such as yourself, who take them for granted. Kerry not only talked about his service, he chronicled it...embellished, & parlayed the 'interest earned' into being one of the well paid mouthpieces of the pink darling party.

Ah this thread reminded me of the firefighting days. I took a lot of pictures in those days but here is my favorite one. Like already stated, fire fighting is all about milking the fires and letting them get big. We saw endless one tree fires that ended up turing into big enough fires that crews from surrounding states had to come in to help. Its all about the money and for some it was because deep down inside they are pyros. I'm glad I don't do that anymore and I don't even pay attention in the news when I hear about a wildland fire, it just brings up memories of wasted tax money and land that probably shouldn't of burned. Granted I'm sure a lot of it needed it.

Cali,

Not many wildland fire-fighters die at work. The job isnt nearly as dangerous as elkcheese and the papers you read make it sound, in particular since 1994.

You need to get some info from sources other than the ten o'clock news and local wing-nuts who dig meth labs in Montana's forests.

Well...I'm a bit down the middle with this one (if anyone really gives a chit). It's been years since I donned my nomex, strapped on my shake-n-bake, and played Pulaski motor but I did do the seasonal bit as part of my stint with the USFS. Sometimes in was while assigned to BD and we worked our arses off and others while actually fighting fires, not setting them, where it was far more mundane for the most part. To me the only thing worse than babysitting a strike was patrolling detail for the "last smoke", Other thing that was discouraging (to a newly graduated student at the time) was to see the amount of waste/theft involved but "hopefully" that's changed and something for another thread...

What does move me slightly off center though is
Not many wildland fire-fighters die at work
.... Granted I know the context that statement was meant in and if you compared actual logged man hours to deaths the number would indeed be quite low. That being said, there has been 11 wildland firefighting related deaths here locally in the last month which is pretty dang shocking and makes you realize that chit does indeed happen just like with Buzz's friend in the plane crash!

MarvB,

Wasnt there 9 killed in that sikorski crash?

A few years ago several fire-fighters were killed when their van rolled.

All I'm saying is that firefighting today is much, much, much different from when you and I fought fire. When you take out the risk involved with traveling to the fire...the risk hovers right near ZERO.

Thats the incident I was talking about.

Swollen livers are also a danger in the "fire culture".

Yeah Buzz...the copter that went down was just a stone throw from here...other two survivors (both young kids) just got released from he hospital.

The other two deaths were a snag falling incident and then a battalion chief that had just got here and was out mapping for his crew and got overtaken by the fire...his assistant made it out, he chose to deploy his shelter and didn't. Would be a suck way of dying.

I'd rather die tired and running than baking in tinfoil...
Much agreed...I remember clearly my first day of training back in 1981 when they handed me a shelter and said to shake it out and pin it down (from the inside) and I was thinking WTF???? Then someone shouts out "does this thing come with sour cream and chives?"

...again, a very suckish way to go- give me a chest grabber while I'm trying to outrun the flames anyday!

The firefighter comments started out as firefighters in general. It is now centered on forest service or woodland firefighters, apparently. Do you all feel the same way about the city and county firefighters? They seem to spend a lot of time washing their trucks, taking care of their equipment and playing basketball. It seems like the military.

Frankly, I wish they'd let the fires burn more - the brush in many areas of California is so thick that little lives there but chipmunks, lizards, mice and snakes.
