Help launch the North American Pronghorn Foundation - GoFundMe

A majority of donations came from this community and I am filled with gratitude for Hunttalk’s support.

In case you did not receive the e-mail via GoFundMe, see below.

You did it! You are directly responsible for helping us raise $10,000 dollars to launch the North American Pronghorn Foundation! In only 24 days!

Speaking for our 10-member Board of Directors, we can't thank you enough. It has been a truly humbling experience watching this fund grow from $0 to $10,000, knowing every single dollar was an investment in us, the mission, and of course, Pronghorn. We are inspired, grateful, and filled with a sense of responsibility to all of you.

We have already begun moving the ball forward. Our 501c3 paperwork is nearly complete and will be submitted in the near future. We are establishing our purpose, values, and bylaws, and building a strategic plan to provide a framework to operate within. We are also building a living document that is a state-based portfolio focused solely on a comprehensive picture of Pronghorn across the continent, including challenges, conservation opportunities, ongoing or needed efforts, and advocacy opportunities. We also have a team working on a logo and are looking at website development.

We are excited to bring this vision to life and put our resources on the ground to benefit Pronghorn. These next few months will be critical for us to establish a foundation for the organization to sit upon. While it may appear to be quiet on the surface, please know that we are working diligently to build an identity, set goals, and design a path to accomplish those goals. We will send out updates as we progress.

We have much to do, and we are only able to do it because of your support. Much more to come...

Thank you all and Goatspeed!

Let us know when the membership drive starts.

Good question. There’s a couple elements at play. Pronghorn Foundation, as an acronym “PF”, conflicted with Pheasants Forever. American Pronghorn Foundation was considered, but Pronghorn exist in Mexico and Canada, and North American was more inclusive of the potential to work in those countries in the future and acknowledged their full range.

We acknowledge that most people will likely refer to it as the “Pronghorn Foundation” or “NAPF” for short anyway.

Thank you for keeping the full Pronghorn range in mind when coming up with the name. We're starting to have a very healthy herd here in Saskatchewan and I was extremely fortunate to draw a tag last year.

Looking forward to joining the NAPF and hopefully see a Canadian chapter created and will be more than happy to help get that started if there is a will to expand!

We approved our official and primary logo tonight.

January should be a big month for us. Website is under construction and the ball is continuing to move forward on a number of items. Thank you to all the supporters and the NAPF board for their work!
Can you very that the FB page by the same name & using this logo is the official page please? Looking forward to everything this organization has coming👍

What are the long term and short term goals of the foundation? Will there be a life member membership?

Well said!
Very cool to watch in real time. Congratulations on making a vision become reality and thank you, to those on the board, for your dedication.

I listened to a meateater radio live podcast (episode 637) on a long drive this week and they were talking about how there isn’t an official Pronghorn species conservation organization. Maybe you guys should reach out to let them know it’s been created and see if they’ll give a bit of airtime to it to help kick start the first year?

I did and thank you for the heads up.

Appreciate the support, the questions, excitement, all of the above. Truly.

I’m not trying to be secretive, but I think for now it’s best if I simply give a conservative, perhaps even vague answer, and simply say our goal is to do many of the things being asked about in the first quarter of 2025. I know that’s not specific, but I don’t want to promise a specific time and not deliver. It might be sooner or it might be later than the time frame I have in my head.

We have a lot of work left to do, and it’s a difficult time of year to get some of it done with availability around the holidays and show season coming up. But things continue to move forward.

Thank you for all the work you all are doing! Since HT did most of the funding it seems only fair we should get the first crack at memberships whenever they become available! We are all just excited and will keep asking, but take your time and do it the right way!
