GUNWERKS

If you’re looking for that “bespoke” buying experience, then sure. They do build a nice rifle, and for $13k it’s a turn key package. No work on your end necessary.

For me, I’m with @NDGuy. I’ll take a tikka and some add-ons anyday. When all is said and done, I will be the limiting factor on functional shooting anyways. That $13k isn’t going to make my wind calls any better.

As others have said, its the turn-key solution. However, I think you can find an action, barrel, trigger, stock, scope, brake/suppressor, etc. and have a guy like P Ham it together for quite a bit less than $13k and still have a highly functional, aesthetically pleasing lazer blaster.

I'd personally find more enjoyment and satisfaction with piecing one together with parts of my choosing.

They have been building long enough you would think people would be clearing out their safes and more used ones would be available.

Does that include load development? You get a barrel that's half worn out? Or do they offer standard ammo and expect that every rifle they make will shoot it the same.

If you look at just the rifle price it is a bit more (in the grand scheme of high priced rifles) as any other of the premier builders with premium action, stock, barrel, gunsmith work, etc.

I’m not talking Tikka actions, which are nice, but I’m talking top of the line $1400-$1600 actions, $1000 barrel, $1500 stock, bottom metal, trigger, etc.

Their value add is out of the box readiness (scope + assembly + data package to 1000 yards) and their ammo that is supposed to shoot well out of any of their rifles. Buying a rifle you buy into their system/guarantee.

Is it necessary? No. Can you do the same with a Ruger American? Yep. Even the Gunwerks owner has said so. But, you’re paying for just better quality and someone figuring it all out for you.

I would rather shoot great groups and hit the target with an average run of the mill rifle rather than have the best system in the world and have terrible groups and not be able to hit anything. Some things are more valuable to me in regards to shooting than the actual rifle itself like glass, trigger and not to mention myself as the shooter. That's more of a variable than the rifle itself.

I think their assumption is that their rifles will shoot their ammo relatively the same. I do know they verify their rifles at 1000 yds before shipping.

Which, really is a pretty safe assumption. I’ve never seen a .308 rifle not like Fed GMM, or a 6.5 Creed not shoot with 147 gr Hornady over H4350.
