It's rather interesting to me. With Modern Manufacturing, bullets, brass and powders of today, shot by shot accuracy/consistency has increased dramatically. In my safe, I have several "common" rifles (Rem 700's) right from the factory that shoot incredibly well. One rifle - the cheapest in the safe, a Rem 700 SPS, has shot 2.5" 600 yard groups. Even that lousy little Ruger American shoots bugholes these days.
Which kind of brings me to the point: why spend $12k on a rifle for hunting out to 500 yards when similar results can be had for under $1k?
I'm not knocking the guys who do...but let's face it: one doesn't need a $12k rifle to go shoot epic critters.
