Good commercial

Last winter we were visiting family in MN and had a couple beers at the local brewery. There was a group hanging out inside that had a few tipups out on the lake and would race out when a flag went up. But the only had one flag go up while we were there. So pretty standard ice fishing that involved more drinking than fishing.

Most of the tipup fishing I was involved with involved fires with cheap hot dogs and cheap beer and a race across the ice to be the first one there.

I haven't been out this year, but facing my pickup toward my tip ups works great.

Keys
  • light reflectors on the flags and run one line or two parallel lines with the six tip ups
  • plenty of beer or whiskey depending on the mood
  • few Amazon movies saved on the Kindle
  • full tank of gas to make sure I stay warm
  • turn the headlights on a couple times an hour and look for "flag up" with the binos
  • Warm sleeping back in the back seat

This sounds like a great idea! I do the same but 4 instead of 6. I try to alternate between shiners and suckers. I also sit on the porch at our Family's cabin.

Especially, nowadays because they are dirt cheap. I'm sick of a two-stroke gas can. Plus it's heavier than hell! The more weight saved on an auger equals more beer to pull along
