Hand auger is all I have. One time, one of the screws that hold the blades on sheared off and I was only cutting with one blade. By the time I got the hole drilled I was so boiling pissed I could’ve melted a hole faster.
I broke down and bought an old used gas one. I was so sick of sweating my arse off before I get a line in the water. Nowadays I bring it along in case I need to warm up! One time through 12+" of ice, I'm good to freeze again!

Ice fishing is crap. <"I've fishing" edited to intended, "Ice" phone auto f-up...>

/Says the guy who boats around the same lake and catches the same quantity of fish as the one sitting over a single augered hole during winter.

I fixed your comment! All joking aside, there are aspects of ice fishing that I like more than open water fishing. I blame my Scandinavian heritage. The trick is to bring a radio. Tune it to your local sports channel and relax.

I've never been ice fishing. Is that a pretty accurate representation?

:)---not exactly. First off, there is no truck.

there are folks up here who do provide ice fishing for those who want to do it. Snowmobile out, drill a hole, build a wall, Arctic Char, oh I forgot, you need light

Meh.

For an accurate representation of ice fishing, see Grumpy Old Men.
Great movie. I enjoy their fishing derby in February! Lots of people and lots of fun with few fish!

There were a couple of people at Twin Buttes lake today sitting in their cars and watching tip ups.

Overall it was nice to see ice fishing in a commercial. Only issues I had have been mentioned already, the treble hook with bait, and the leisurely stroll out to get the fish.
