So I might buy a used truck. I will only consider the years that will accept full v-bar true chains on the front. My current truck does. 3/4 ton is a must also. What is the newest GM truck that will allow full chains on the front? mtmuley

This is a good question. The owners manual of my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 says to not use chains up front. Much to my dismay.

My 2015 manual says not to use chains on the front, yes they do fit but not enough clearance with brake lines. Glad to hear they may have changed things to be able to use them again on the fronts.

I have used two sets of chains (all four tires) on my 2002 F-350 several times and they worked great. Absolutely know problem; however, my tires were only one size wider than the stock ones that came with my truck when new. Good Luck!!
