Ford Maverick

Is that mule deer from Eastern Montana? Looks like he's maybe better than 164? Asking for a few hundred friends inquiring...
"Bucky" was taken in 2018 on a Ranching for Wildlife tag on the Hill Ranch in southern CO. I think I used 25 pp to draw. Got a glimpse of how the other 3% hunts. Never had him scored. Here is the euro, it doesn't clearly show all the trash as well as the pic posted above. Correct, those are Christmas lights.

The minivan is an underrated vehicle with hunting, adventure, and tactical applications.
I drove a van for lot of years. Mite still iffn it had 4 wheel drive. great to camp out of and keep
your gear out fo the weather
 
I was very interested when they announced the Maverick, right up until Ford forgot to put a low range in a truck. The world needs more compact, off-road capable, fuel efficient trucks to choose from.
It is also a unibody. With American vehicles getting larger every model update, you are probably better off buying one of those import mini trucks
 
I think Ford is knocking this out of the park for the demographic they are looking at. They are not marketing it as some rugged, rock climber or workhorse. It seems to be very useful for those targeted. As for poo pooing it (or any of the trucklets), why? If your needs aren't represented, it isn't for you. My truck Jack has the 5.0, 8ft bed and an extended cab. I get snide comments all the time about the combo I chose but it fits MY needs so who gives a rats ass. As for something like this.......well I am about to be a full on empty nester and it would be a LOT more practical for the wife than her current X3 for what we will need.

In general usefulness the concept seems lacking compared to a crossover SUV, subaru, or minivan. You just can't fit much in a 4.5' bed compared to something with folded down back seats. The only real redeeming quality i see is it's price point is lower than those other options.
 
I've been out in the dark with elk bugling all around, when from miles away I hear someone's big manly diesel truck approaching. Of course, the elk hear the loud trucks approaching too. A hybrid Maverick, might be the ultimate hunting rig, going slow with the quiet electric motor. Ha!
 
I like it.
Beds are useful. Sure beats cleaning deer blood out of your mini van's back. AWD is also a great add on. That's just my $.02 though.
 
There isn't anything this "truck" can do that the minivan won't, fold down the seats.
I am no expert but I do see some fundamental differences in the back half of the 2 vehicles in question that may allow for different loads in each. I have never priced a minivan but always assumed they were a lot more expensive as well.
I can't believe I'm going to say this but since we bought one last year I've actually thought the same. We get pretty good winters here and it gets around pretty damn good as well.
I know a gal who hauled 2 calves in the back of a nice minivan, one was probably 200 pounds or so. They folded the seats down and tied their legs up.

An electric truck would be the ultimate road hunting vehicle. No more having to start the truck to warm up, lol.
 
My buddy bought one this fall. For a get around town, maybe pack a little gear in the bed vehicle its great. For anything semi-off roadish it struggles. We took it out the day after he bought it deer hunting. The roads we were on were just basic county gravel, nothing crazy with a few minor ruts. That brand new truck was bottoming out in pretty minimal ruts.

For a town vehicle with a little storage capacity and that gas mileage, it's great. For anything off pavement, I'll take a heavy pass.
