I was discussing it with my son the other day. Back in the 80s you of course wanted to win it all, but a 10-6 season was still fun. Now, it is either you have to win the Super Bowl (not just go, you have to win), or you have to be 2-15 and get the first pick in the draft. Every other outcome is somehow garbage. Our society has managed to take all the joy out of things that are short of “perfect”.A friend who in a Bengals fan is trying to sell her season tickets this morning.
I find over reactions to be rather hilarious. If the won-loss record of your favorite teams is a quality of life issue, perhaps you have misplaced priorities. Nonetheless, I know many people like that. And in recent years, it seems that unless your team wins the Superbowl, you and your life is a failure. Heck, I'm just happy to see "my" team playing an interesting, good game, but it won't kill me if they play like Cinci did last night.
